Just getting started home brewing and everything I have is borrowed or hand me downs. Any suggestions for the best sites to order from?

Have you considered approaching a local brewery? I was able to get my malt and hops at cost price and the yeast free (though I did have to supply my own jar!) by doing this.

    Northernbrewer.com rebelbrewer.com Morebeer.com Austin Homebrew Supply .com?

    Midwest supplies

All these are reliable online retailers and I know I left a few out but depending on where you live one may be faster than others. Rebel may be a good choice for you considering you live in Illinois.

if anyone is thinking about using midwest supplies, i just want to give a heads up that i got a letter in the mail from them about an order i placed back in march, apparently my credit card info was viewed by an unauthorized third pary due to a security breach of the website, im sure they are working to correct the error, but i just wanted to put it out there so people know before making a decision on what site to order from

that being said, if you have a LHBS, give them a shot, and asking a local brewery never occurred to me either, that would be handy if they could help you out with supplies
