If you buy the flaked corn or rice, let us know if it is cheap.

    From Northern Brewer online.
    Rahr 2 row $1.29/lb.
    Flaked maize $1.99/lb.
    Flaked rice $2.29/lb.

    Cheap?

Cheap as in associated with cheap beer I guess. Fortunately, the prices at my LHBS aren't that crazy. Flaked corn is only .10/lb more than 2 row.

I apologize if you found my posts to be uncharitable. I have posted numerous times: Homebrew the beers you like and brew them the way you like. I sort of strayed from that philosophy in this thread.

I am having great difficulty understanding your ‘vision’ on this beer. I have never brewed with an adjunct percentage > 20%. It seems to me that “making something decent with 50% adjuncts” is likely an unachievable goal but since I have never done it I cannot state with 100% certitude that it can’t be done.

Please post what your final recipe is and please report back on how the beer turned out.

Good luck with your 50% adjunct beer.

    Cheers!

I didn't find your answer uncharitable at all. I completely understand that this isn't a great idea. I'll definitely post my final recipe and results. I'll also post my BJCP friend's opinion.

With corn and rice I just bought a pound and used it all. It'd be like 8-10% off the top of my head. I personally think that flaked ingredients tend to dry the beer out. Either are good for a Kolsch when I try to drink them at 4 months.
