Hey everyone! I'm curious to know what it takes to brew with marshmallow (or fluff) and have a the flavor be noticeable. Thinking of doing either a chocolate milk stout or a peanut butter porter with marshmallow (or fluff) added...I just don't know how to do it. Any and all recommendations will be helpful!
That was one idea I had kicking around. But where would you add it? Would you add it during some part of the boil? At flame out? Directly into the keg? I was thinking probably best to do it at flameout
I don't have an answer to your question, but if you can't decide how (or if you want) to add the flavor during the brewing process, you might consider just laying a toasted, skewered marshmallow across the top of your glass when serving the beer. Short's Brewing here in Michigan does this when serving their S'mores Stout at their pub, and as far as I'm concerned that was a good enough blast of marshmallow for me when I drank that beer while visiting there. Maybe they brew this beer with lactose or marshmallow flavoring too, but that toasted one on top of the glass was all the flavoring (mentally) that I needed to enjoy that beer. Disclaimer: If you use this suggestion and burn down your house while toasting marshmallows, I had nothing to do with that.
I came here thinking I was gonna hear about people using marshmallow root in beer, gotta admit Im a bit disappointed its about the fluffly white puffs....... Marshmallows are basically sugar with a hint of vanilla, I say just add a tiny bit of vanilla
