Stopping in Savannah for dinner. Looking for brewpub with good beer and food or a bar with a good beer selection and good food. Thanks in advance.
I was just in Savannah for the first time about 2 weeks ago. We only got to stay for one night. We hit the distillery first. They had a pretty decent (but not incredible) beer selection. Also got the local cheese board and some carolina bbq wings that were REALLY good. Then went to the crystal beer parlor which is very close in walking distance and has a nice tap list and vibe. Stayed at the thunderbird inn, all walking distance from each other. let me know if you have any questions. habersham beverage is also worth a look if you are looking for bottleshops.
Im heading to Savannah this weekend and I'm looking for bottles to bring back home - specifically stuff that I don't get here in SE Virginia. What's the availability on stuff like Cigar City and Jester King? Anything else worth hunting down? We're also making a stop at the Distillery. Any other places nearby that are within walking distance and worth trying out? Any places to avoid?
Just spent a night in Savannah a couple months ago. After the Distillery, try Crystal Beer Parlour, moon river brewing, or churchill's. All a reasonable distance, although I think Crystal beer Parlour is closest. It was a great night, enjoy!
Depending on which shop you hit, you may be able to find Jai Alai. No Jester King to speak of. The local breweries are Southbound (their tripel is in bottles) and Coastal Empire (several in cans). Both have very limited distribution and are worth a shot. Your Pie has a downtown location. It's a chain pizza place; but the owners do a great job curating the beer. There's also a World of Beer downtown and The Bier Haus, a Belgian bar. Some of our other favorite Savannah locations are detailed here: http://brewdrinkrun.com/tag/savannah-2/ There's a Duck Rabbit cask tapping on Friday at WOB and a beer brunch at the Distillery on Sunday. http://brewdrinkrun.com/events/ Cheers!
Jai Alai is the only CCB beer distributed to GA. You won't find anything else. Jester King is not distributed here at all.
Jen's and friends is great also. A ton of beers and if anyone you know is a Martini fan them they have over 150 flavors.
I went to Habersham on Abercorn yesterday. During rush hour. Holy crap, traffic was a nightmare! Obviously didn't expect that.
Jester King distributes down here in FL now. Of course, so does CCB. In Savannah, The Distillery and The Crystal Palace are good spots. The food is pretty awesome at The Distillery, especially the crab cakes which are authentic Maryland style (no bread filling). There's also a WoB on Broughton. I like Moon River more for the ghosts than the beer and food. Personal preference.
I went to the Distillery too but wasn't able to stay long. I did come across some Terrapin CRWnB on draft though at a place called Local11Ten.
I tend to spend more time at Molly McPherson's Scotch bar each time we visit Savannah. I had their 15 year flight of single malt scotches last time and it was most excellent.
