Have you ever been to a BJ's before? If you had, I think you might be a bit less excited.

Frankly, I'd be more excited about a new Buffalo Wild Wings moving into the area (at least from a beer standpoint).

The area is a good-beer deprived at the bars and restaurants, so it is a step in the right direction. Perhaps the local brewery could outperform what you see as average at the other locations.

Hope springs eternal, but in all honesty, the quality level at BJ's is pretty consistent. I've been to several, and have always gotten the impression that they're intentionally avoiding making anything unusual or cutting edge.

I would liken them to Bare Bones over in Ellicott City... maybe a bit better than that, but not by much.

I agree with your comment about Towson's beer scene, though I think it's improving. My GF has to stay in a hotel there periodically (forget which one at the moment), and she mentioned seeing things like DFH 60 minute and Stone IPA in the restaurant there. Not great, by any stretch, but certainly better than anything I've ever had from BJ's.
