I read not long ago that Brewtan B was going to be available to home brewers in the USA soon. Has anyone seen it available anywhere in the country, either online or in a brick and mortar store? TIA!

Sorry newb question? This is for helping with shelf life?

I've seen where Brewtan B must be removed via whirlpooling, but I've simplified to where my trub all goes into the fermenter along with the wort, and with no effort made to separate it. Does that disqualify me from using Brewtan B?

If anything you should use more of it. Trub is one of the leading staling mechanisms on the fermentation side.

Should I be using brewtan? Is it easy to use?

Maybe, if you want. As easy as adding a little to your mash and a little to your boil kettle.

So Brewtan B won't hurt the final product if left in the trub?

I've never experienced a slow ferment due to leaving the trub in. It seems as if the yeast feast upon it.

I am not sure. Every professional brewing book says hot trub (so all hot protein and hops from the boil) must be removed. That contains the bulk of auto-oxidating fats and lipids. The yeast use a minuscule amount for nutrients, which is what you can get by leaving some cold break in. But the hot break is definitely not a great idea. I remove both, but if you what you do works for you, it is what it is.
