I guess whether or not a certain cost for a certain beer/beer event is worth it, is all relative. But to put it in perspective, with the seemingly ever increasing cost of craft beer is $75 for all you can drink beer including tons of limiteds and one offs really that much money? I would say no, as I easily spend that nearly every time I go to a liquor store and pick up a 6 pack of craft bombers. Its also about the same price per person as dinner and drinks at a nice restaurant.

So again, its all relative, but to me based on past experiences (which was admittedly only last year as that was my first one) it is 100% worth the cost of admission, without questions.

I've only been to 1 Huna Day and 1 Brewvival, but I can say that Brewvival was 100x better in every way with the exception that you don't leave with bottles. I left Huna Day saying I would never go back again. I left Brewvival saying I would never miss one again.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best fests in the region. There are always a half dozen "knock your socks off" beers and tons of pleasant surprises. Just a great vibe that's totally worth the price of admission. +1 on Edmunds Oast on Friday night. This is basically part of the festival and if you skip it, you're missing out. Shout out to the SC peeps who always make this event memorable.

Already got plans for that Friday evening, so Emunds Oast then might be a no go for me. I do see that they have a Jester King Brunch on Sunday that I could attend - if I have my dates right.

Thanks for the respones guys. I'm 99.9% certain I will be buying tickets to this event. Now, what beers to bring back with me...

For those interested, the SC Brewers Guild is going to be holding a festival on Saturday, May 21 for all SC breweries. The festival will be fairly intimate, and will focus on rarities and one-offs. More information will be forthcoming in the near future. Hope to see everyone at Brewvival!

My GF is a non beer drinker as well. However, I've gone solo to the last 3 Brewvivals(and will be at this one too) and met lots of new friends to hang with. Seriously, don't let that stop you. This is REALLY worth going to!

Regular Huna was pouring at last year's SN Burly Fest and there was absolutely no one in line every time I passed the tent. Not saying DB would get the same treatment, but not everyone goes to a festival for a single beer, or just a few. That festival also had a flyer that was given out at the gate with the listed beers and locations, and the entire tent setup was in alphabetical order. One of the best organized events I've ever been to. I would think Brewvival might do something similar, a flyer/card in hand at the gate to help guide people around, but that's just speculation.

Want to put a bug in his ear to start buying the beer from breweries? I miss that one every year because I can't get behind that.

I've asked him a couple times about it. Ultimately I have to defer to his judgement as its a fun festival and I'm not involved with the organizing at all so don't know what all it takes. I do know ticket prices would (obviously) go up and I think the organizer worries that would cause a really big issue for Hops as it isn't a festival built around bringing the biggest, best, more awesomest beer around but rather getting people to try new breweries. Ultimately they aren't being forced to be there so I hope they see it as a pretty cheap way to get some publicity even if it means the festival doesn't get the newest, hot-off-the-presses releases from some of the breweries (though they certainly do from others).

TL;DR: I can try, but I haven't helped run the festival before so don't know just how much of a pain it'd be.

Just over a week away. Pumped for this. Anyone with insider details want to give us a teaser on a (not completely obvious like COAST or Westbrook) brewery or two?

Probably safe to assume Jester King, Crooked Stave, Fonta Flora, Jolly Pumpkin and Creature Comforts at least since they are pouring at Funk You the night before.

I do hope that some of the FL crew shows up this year.

Has a tap list for the Funk You event at Oast been released? I'll definitely be there but all this secrecy around the festivities this year is killing me.

They just released brewery names, no tap list that I have seen. Its pretty typical for Edmunds Oast to not release beer lists for their events, I know at least their Westbrook beer dinners, the Mexican Cake fiesta, etc didn't have detailed beer lists prior to the event. I would expect the same for Funk You.

Side note, I am shocked Brewvival hasn't sold out yet. I still suspect it will, but I guess those of you who said the lack of brewery/beer list could hurt ticket sales may have been right.

Headed down from Durham this afternoon. Weather looks great. Looking forward to seeing good friends, making new ones and trying some world class beers. See everyone at the fest. I'm the white, bearded, middle-aged guy with the tasting glass if anyone wants to meet up.

If we aren't planning on shuttling, does anyone know places to park and walk?
