I have a bottle of 1989 Old Knuckledhead #001 I was recently given. Any thoughts on if this is still safe to drink? Not sure of what conditions it has been stores it but probably just in a basement.

Assuming from the name, is it a barleywine? I would open & smell it. If it has any carbonation and doesn't smell sour, I would drink it. If it tastes bad: dump and immediately gargle and swallow a shot of vodka.

Gargle with vodka? Get real. Open it and drink, if you don't like it pour it. It's not going to make you sick, as has been said in hundreds of other "is it gonna be good" threads.
