Stopped at a whole foods this afternoon and asked for the barrel bomb, the awesome clerk came back with a pink label bomb with a ship on it "this is all I could find," that'll do!

Perhaps, but we also buy high margin items like bags of ice and the occasional bottle of wine or liquor. They don even need to worry about marketing.

It's not as good as pirate bomb IMO and harder to find. I almost always try for at least 2 or 3 bottles like this and I'm done with 1 this time. If it were 5-10 dollars a bottle and easier to find I'd be all for it.

There was indeed. A couple of dudes made several snide comments. Next time, fuck'em. Don't limit those of us that got there early to either/or. Let us have them both.

Also, this Perpetual Peace is awesome.

I really like the system they put together and think it's about as fair as it gets. I hope the people that only go there (or send their Mommy there) for limited crap don't ruin the whole thing.

Perpetual Peace is awesome. It's still sitting on shelves too. I'll be grabbing many more of those!

Not bad. Still tastes like Bomb- low barrel, higher smokiness, but tasty. Better than '14 Pirate IMO. Can't wait to see how these others age.

I almost always buy other beer when I come in for a limited release. My receipt from trip to Specs on Friday was around $75

Same here. And then I also buy my beer there when there isn't a release. As well as gas and other things.

I dunno about other places but Only 10% of the people who come to E1G to buy Limited Releases buy more than the bottle they came for

I try to buy my other "shelf" beer needs from stores that get the specialty/rare brews. However, the reality is stores get just as caught up in the fever pitch of rare releases as customers do, and may even think working up customers into a frenzy in hopes that they'll buy other items is a good business strategy (a la black Friday style).

I've come to learn that there are no loyalties when it comes to rare releases (@ least in ATX). Most stores don't bother to look out for regulars during special releases and most regulars don't stick around to buy other beer when "hunting" for special releases. Release days are crazy! Whipping around town chasing that unicorn, all while hoping your fortunate enough to get one and not go too much over your lunch hour. There may not be a solution to this situation, but I'm glad it's being discussed.

That's because the only way to handle it is to either hold a raffle of some sorts or for stores to just get rid of the bottles as soon as possible so they don't have to deal with us.

Sad to see community become "who can hoard the most beer" but unforunately with any kind of limited release item this is how it is gonna be.

That makes you the very minor 10%. Which is cool, but I'm willing to bet in Dallas it's the same. If at lunch I drive across town to get my limited bottle at Specs, but my home shop by my crib is releasing their allotment in the evening of course, of course I'm gonna drive out there. But maybe, late that evening I'm gonna go to my home shop get my other limited bottle and maybe maybe get something else.

You can't hold for regulars when you get 12 bottles and people are literally waiting in the store for them. Sure, you may be able to hold one or two, but not many more.

Don't get me wrong I don't always buy other beer but I almost ALWAYS need gas or other things since I work on the road.

That is true. Especially since a store like that provides tremendous additional convenience.
