Sir, welcome to our jungle. We got fun and games .

I agree with your assesment: a lot of the "reliables" are either not made anymore or have been "adjusted to the modern market".

Shrug. It's still beer, and beer is still amazing!

All this nostalgia makes me want an Anchor Steam. It seems like Anchor's more recent offerings have been trying to hop on the caboose of hype trains and market trends to no avail, but I remember really liking Anchor Steam, even only a few years ago. It's readily available, so (assuming it's relatively fresh) I should pick some up. Hopefully that recipe hasn't changed.

Damn, the ol' Teddy Bear sure waxes poetic sometimes. There should be a Haiku in there someplace.

Ideally, Hop Head Red from Greenflash. I'll settle for Cinder Cone Red from Deschutes, which I greatly prefer to Red Chair.

Widmer Rotator IPA X-114. That was a delicious IPA. I had already been drinking Blind Pig and PtE on the reg as it was easy to find bottles around Portland back then, but when this came out it was right when those blew up. The clerk at New Seasons cracked one open for me to taste and I was hooked. Was able to try it again a few years later when Widmer did their anniversary series and was as good as I remembered. The X-114 became the Citra hop.

Also the first Fremont BS they made for Belmont Station’s anniversary. I had tried a few hazy’s by then but this was a revelation. The aromas, smoothness, and taste were unbelievable. I know we’re all a bit tired of the style now or never liked it to begin with, but this was exceptional.

    Heresy!

I haven't had Red Chair in probably a couple of years but I remember it being one of my absolute favourites back in the simpler times ha.
Not sure I ever had Cinder Cone, though so maybe I just don't know what I'm missing

BS is the best hazy IPA Fremont has made. Way better than anything in the HFOD series.

I beg to differ. To my palate, this year's hazy Cowich Canyon is the best hazy IPA Fremont has ever made (despite the fact that they label it as a pale ale).

I liked the original Red Chair recipe (labelled as IPA) better than the current on labeled a NWPA. But always preferred Cinder Cone to both though for my palate and preferences. Cheers
