Bringing beer back from overseas and suggestions

Please refer me to another thread if this has already been discussed

I have a friend in Spain currently and I wanted to see if he could bring some beer back with him. My questions are: 1) do you just bring it in your luggage or is there something special you have to do? 2) what are some good Spanish and/or other obtainable European beers to try and get? I'm not going to send him on a wild goose chase to try and get Westy XII or anything like that (are any Westys available outside the Abbey?). I enjoy most any kinds of beer. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
