I don't care if you bring your kids, but I won't be altering my behavior or censoring my language so don't even give me a look if I drop an F-bomb in front of your kid.

    u r kewl.

The ladies must love you. If there's one thing I know, it's women love a cursing, blithering, drunken idiot who can't articulate himself. Definitely a solid member of society! I didn't know BA's went to bars mainly so they could curse outside their mother's earshot.

I CURSE IN FRONT OF KIDS RAWWWRRR I AM THE BADASSS!!! BAMN!1 You hear that? That was the F-BOMB!!! Me saying that = I am the MAN!!! WOOHOO!~!!

Gotta love people who will act like uneducated, ill mannered assholes in front of ANYONE, let alone kids. " I WON'T BE ALTERING MY BEHAVIOR I AM A MAN!!! RARRR!!! "

Is the purpose of going to an establishment to be a belligerent, obnoxious asshole? The good news is, I *CAN* get you thrown out of the place for acting like that.

Who said anything about being drunk or blithering? We're talking about a bar, not Appleby's. There is a known atmosphere in a bar and most adults use language that is often inapropriate for children. It's your choice to bring your child into that environment.

Once again, "bar" has not been defined. "Beer bar" is in the topic of the thread. In San Diego - beer bars are family establishments from opening till around 7PM.

The "bar" you seem to be talking about - don't go to those. Full of morons and loud, obnoxious a-holes. Wouldn't even go if I were childless and single.

Like I said, don't expect other people to alter their behavior because your kid is around. If it's grenrally a kid friendly place, then that's a completely different atmosphere then an actual bar.

I guess I am different. I try and act appropriate in any situation.

As an OWNER of a craft beer bar in San Diego, I couldn't agree with you more. I not only encourage families to patronize my establishment, I've just invested in seats, booster chairs, coloring books, etc,. I say craft beer bars are the perfect place for families. There aren't a bunch of hooligans downing shots of fireball, puking on one another. It isn't a fine dining environment spoiled by the wails of children. Craft beer bars are a perfect environmentfor people to commune together, including children. Christ, some of you sound as if we should "go back to the private social clubs of times past where men took their drinking seriously..."

I also have much more issue with ADULTS behaving badly in my establishment. Children seldom misbehave but grown men are reprimanded at my bar daily.

Right because people don't raise opinions elsewhere. Maybe some day they too will get good beers with a snack bowl of free speech over there in the old world

If you bring your kid with you in the afternoon and you hasve a pint or two while you're both eating some overpriced burgers/pizza at the brewpub, I won't think twice about it. But if you bring you're kid with you late at night when he/she should be sleeping, you'll probably get a dirty look or two. (Note, I used to work at Wrigley Field and would hate it when parent would bring their infants to the ballpark when it was really cold or really warm. )

It would have been SOO interesting if this was a poll question! I don't think the question is clear enough. I know you tried hard to clarify it, but when you say "Bar", it has a certain stigma attached to it. I have 2 kids, who aren't really "Kids" anymore. My 11 year old daughter loves going to Founders because she loves the sandwiches, but I consider that a Brewery "Tap room" and not a bar. Not a legitimate question as I see it. I wouldn't take young children to a "Bar", but I would to a "Tap room". Some people are A-holes when it comes to kids because they haven't had any...yet... That's all there is to it.

What bar do you own? If I'm ever in SD I'll have to stop there. I like your attitude.

Bar, tap room, tavern, pub, saloon, etc. I think they might be synonyms.

I recently met two friends for some leftover stouts from a stout night at a good local bar (in our...the closest thing LA has to a neighborhood, you know where you can walk to more than one destination). It was 1 pm on a Sunday we were the only customers, there are communal tables outside. I asked the bartender if I could have brought the kid in for my quick pour or two and the response was one of shock. Oh the horror!!! Beer and wine are just food in most places I've seen.
