Does anyone have any experience with bringing beer bought in the U.S. back into the U.S. after going to Canada? (I'm planning on picking up beer in VT on my way to Montreal this weekend then bringing it all back with me at the end of the weekend.) If I had a receipt showing that I purchased it here would I be all set?

Never an issue coming from Quebec back to VT with beers - when they ask what I purchased in Canada, I tell them what I bought there, and skip the US stuff. If they question further, I will tell all but they really don't seem to give a hoot. Clearly you didn't mule beer up to Quebec to sell if it's coming back in again. PS: They are getting used to people going to Quebec after a beer-cation in VT these days.

Depending on how much you have it could be a problem, a cousin that works for a distributor in Montana gets the question "how much can I bring back to Canada (eh)?". Wish I could remember the amount he told me but it might be worth it to look up if you want to bring a good amount of HT into Canada.

    Also ISO: Kokanee 30 rack:wink:

Aka 8.5 liters somehow the liters always sticks in my mind easier, I think that works out to be 13 bombers or 24 12 oz bottles those are numbers people remember. But your numbers are what I had heard.

I think there may be a fair number of Quebecois having VT beercations themselves. I was just up there over the past few days and saw lots of Quebec license plates around Waterbury and Waitsfield.

Lovely state you've got there, by the way.

There were several folks I know from Montreal down for the Hill Fest. They even have a yearly pub-crawl/buying spree group that comes to VT on a regular basis. And man, do they ever get hit for duty when they haul it all home! They are wonderful beer-neighbors and we share our the bounty on both sides of the border.

I've never had a problem going over the border (either direction) with beers - When asked, I usually just make sure to throw in the words "for consumption"... After that, they just send me on my merry way.
