Although it's been a long time between posts for me... and I am more "near" Brisbane than from Brisbane
I'm here. I recommend 3 places: http://scratchbar.com/ http://www.yardbirdalehouse.com.au/ My local (outside of Brisbane but worth the drive) - http://www.bacchusbrewing.com.au/
Cool thanks for info! If anyone would like to meet up I'll be there on May 28th and 29th. Booked a tour with xxxx on Friday at 5pm too!
Very much a must for a tourist. But you should also know that one of the bars that I recommended above, the Scratch bar, is only just around the corner from the XXXX brewery.
Great I will do that for sure! Ill go right there after the tour and hang there for a little bit. Then I think im going to check out http://www.archivebeerboutique.com.au/ That looks pretty fun! Any word on that one ?
and would you recommend ? http://scratchbar.com/ or http://www.yardbirdalehouse.com.au/ over the two ? just because i see they are close together and I want to hit the archive if it is worth it !
It should be said that the archive was the first craft beer bar to open in Brisbane IMHO. I know someone like Aleboy might disagree but these are my thoughts (the name of the bar escapes me). For ambiance and vibe it is a terrific place to go. It is more like a pub than a bar with its larger space and set-up. The beer there isn't quite as good as the Scratch as it has more mainstream beer (not mainstream as in BMC just mainstream as in craft beer) - the Scratch more supports the smaller independent breweries. Bottom line, if you want a fun spot to go then go to the Archive. The Scratch is really for people that like great beer and dive bars. Based on the above, it goes without saying that the Scratch Bar should be preferred.
Honestly I was hoping for almost an exact response to this! Thank man I really appreciate the opinion. So what Ill do is do the XXXX tour, walk over to the scratch bar, then prolly head out and go to archive for the rest of the night! Id like to see the dive bar style (which i always have dug) then the more mainstream offering! If anyone would like to join-more than welcome. Thanks again darwin!
