4 gallons of peated stout just going into rescue mode all over the floor. So much fun to clean up.

Glass 5 gallon carboy. It slipped off the edge of a 1"X1" piece of wood onto a the concrete floor.

I think I'll build a platform for this so it's not on concrete. Maybe it can be the bottom of my future fermentation chamber.

On the bright side, if all you lost is the beer consider yourself fortunate. I have seen some really nasty cuts and gashes from people dropping glass carboys or glass carboys falling close to them. Those nasty gashes are the reason why I switched over to the larger Speidel plastic fermentors.

Sorry to hear that. Go for the PET bottles like Better Bottles. No breaking. And lighter. And cheaper. And, did I mention, no breaking.

Put me firmly in the "don't fear the plastic" camp. Either way you go chalk it up as the angel's share, as we all unintentionally lose beer from time to time.

Happy angels at my house! No cuts, bumps, or bruises. Maybe they were there ahead of time.

As has already been mentioned: thank goodness you did not get hurt. Broken carboy shards can indeed cause damage to skin and arteries.

    Cheers!

No glass carboys in this house. I prefer that my blood gets spilled other clumsy ways.
