Not trying to make excuses for your trader, but his statement about legal may be correct. I recently had a package sent to a guy I've traded with in the past, sent back to me completely undamaged. He received a broken shipment in the past from someone and now everything to him through FedEx gets flagged and sent back at his local place so I re-sent UPS.

If he doesn't make it right somehow though then yes, that is bad trader worthy.

This just now happened to me on a trade I sent - tracking update said it was damaged in transit, literally 15 miles from the destination and now it's on its way back to me :-/ I'm hoping for the best

Once before I received a few broken bottles in a trade (not from this site). 2 of which were extras, and 1 was part of the agreed trade. Neither of us got a notice about it during shipping, and it came to my door unimpeded (UPS for those wondering). As soon as I opened the door to get it from the UPS driver I knew that bottles had broken. Not because the box was wet, it actually looked fine, but because I could smell that alcohol. I can't believe it made it to my door. When I opened the box, it was clear that the box was not packed all that well. There was a lot of open space in the box for bottles to shift around, and the bottles only had one layer of bubble wrap around each bottle. Everything was soaked in beer, and there were glass shards everywhere. At least everything was put in a knotted trash bag, and that is what contained it. All I did was notify the shipper what had happened and said that it probably should have been packed better. Personally, I didn't feel like it was worth the hassle to demand replacements, but with that said I acknowledge that I am as about as laid back as it gets, and that it is the shippers responsibility to replace at least the bottles that were agreed upon.

Thankfully, I have never had a bottle I sent break. If I did I would, without question, replace it, and I'd send several more extras to make up for the inconvenience.

Had a guy send me a 32 oz growler of PB&J Framinghammer(before they bottled it). It was wrapped poorly and broke. Dude said he'd eventually send me something to make up for it. Never did. Ah well.

While I'm of the school where the shipper is responsible for the beer until received you state that you consider it done. You have let him off the hook, so unless he flat out refused to do anything about it I think a bad trader outing wouldn't be fair.

He should send you the six beers to replace it, but you letting it go ends the transaction IMO. In other words I believe that writing a bad trader up isn't letting it go, or considering it done like you say you told him you would.

I agree. I think this was before the feedback system was around.

The hell with it then,as soon as the weather heats up a little here in mn I'll send you something. Your feedback makes you seem like a good trader. I don't have any of your wants but I'll find something

I'm not sure I'm completely clear on what happened, but as I think I understand it, he packed poorly, one of six bottles of fairly low value broke, and he isn't willing to replace or make it up in a future trade? If I have that right, I think it's weak, but not terrible. I'd probably go with neutral feedback on this one and call it a day.

@RyanMcFly1985 I like to help out people who get screwed over as much as I can. If you won't accept it we'll just have to set up a trade and I'll get it to you using that route! I have other ways too man
