Few months back; finished cleaning my Chimay chalice and walking downstairs to put it away. I notice a few drops of water left in the glass so I try to shake it out quick and smack it right into the railing. RIP.

I've never broken a glass, but every one of the nice glasses that I owned and wound up in pieces were from someone other than me putting it in the dishwasher when I told them not to.

Broke a glass on Halloween while washing it. My kids learned a few new words that night.

I had a nice tulip from Southern Tier that broke :slight_frown: Also a shaker pint from my local home brew supply store, it was free (well, with a $50 purchase) but it had sentimental value :slight_frown: Most of my beer glasses now are from Walmart or Dollar Tree... really, you can get some decent stuff cheap and if you break it, oh well, drop down another buck and get another one .

I opened a Southern Tier Raspberry Wheat a handful of years ago and the glass shattered...! I don't think they bottle it any more but they have it at the brewery on draft.

I feel your pain. I broke a Victory snifter a few months back. No reason. Just washing by hand in the sink...slip...crash/shatter...expletives!
I've since found a new favorite, but I loved that Victory glass.

This is the thread winner. Makes me glad I use plastic buckets. I know the glass are better, but they are damn heavy and slippery with 5 gallons of beer in them.

Over the years I have had 3. The only home brew I have had was one I received from someone else in a bottle swap. My son did break off a top while opening a bottle a few months ago. Made a pretty good cut that should have been stitched. He was using the normal opener and the neck gave way.

My buddy sent me a New Belgium tulip several years ago. One with the laser-etched bottom. Loved it; used it often. Cleaned it one night about 18 months ago with a dish brush. Pulled out the brush ... glass broke.

I ended up going to New Belgium last year and bought a replacement glass. Loved it; used it often ... if briefly. You would think I had learned my lesson. But no: Cleaned it one night with a dish brush. Pulled out the brush ... glass broke.

I would love to have some pithy statement about this being God's way of telling me not to buy New Belgium stuff but the reality is that, in this regard anyway, I apparently don't even learn the hard way. <sigh>

I'm clumsy as hell, I've broken a good amount of glassware in my time. My Chimay Chalice was the most tragic. I loved that glass, one evening having four too many...it slipped from my hands and kissed the floor. I mourn that chalice everyday. That's why I don't drink six beers a night anymore. Seems my glassware suffers more than my body does.

I had about three Rogue bombers that were really old blow up on me. The first one scared the crap out of me and my wife. The loud pop and glass flying had me convinced that someone broke into our basement. The second and third one happened the next day. In the interest of full disclosure The Rogue I bought was already outdated to begin with. The twelve pack of bombers only cost 10 bucks. You get what you pay for and then some.

I was hanging with Iggy Pop one night long long ago and he knocked over my favorite glass and it broke. I tore his chest open with the shards and a legend was born.

    Enjoy......I know we did

I broke one of my favorites last week. It's a 33oz brandy snifter from Waterford. I still have one more but you can fit a whole bomber in one glass. It was a great glass.

I was washing a Dogfish Head Snifter when a piece of it just popped off into the sink. No injuries but I was very unhappy. Fortunately, I had a spare.

This is timely. Last night I broke a lovely pint glass I had picked up last August at the Meantime Brewery in Greenwich, England by managing to drop a sauce pan on it while it was in the sink.

Not me gladly but over last summer while visitng my brother 2 of his favorite glasses were destroyed, while we were drinking on his backyard cemet patio. My daughter accidently knocked one off of his chair and I did the same to the other that was resting on the arm of my chair. I tried to explain that it wouldn't have happened if he didn't have the cement patio. He did not appreciate my observtions on the matter.

I kicked a girl out of my apartment in college at FPC (04') for breaking my favorite pint glass.
