My favourite glass was actually a wine tasting glass. We had so much fun together till my roommate accidentaly threw it on the flour. She was in tears so I actually had to comfort her after it happend.
I can still see it, in my dreams, lying on the floor a bloodbath with rochefort 10 and shiny crystal shards.

It's replaceable for +- 69 dollar. Money better spent on lots of beer so i decided to embrace my inferior breweryglasses.

Sadly it's the reason why I use easily replaced glass. What I generally use I have no real attachments too, I have better glass, but I rarely use them, and I treat them very carefully. I'm hard on glass so I account for it.

My fiancee had gotten me two custom engraved snifters as a gift for graduating college. She managed to break one in the dish washer and I had managed to break one with my bare hands while cleaning it. Needless to say, we weren't too happy about it seeing that it cost her 60 bucks or so for them.

Also, broke my Tree House tulip full of FBS last winter when I misjudged my vicinity to the wall in the living room. I hit the wall and watched the glass slowly fall to the floor. Glass and FBS everywhere...

Luckily I've since replaced the TH glass.

I owe myself so many great beer glasses it's not funny:

    -Leffe chalice glass
-Pauwel Kwak glass with wooden stand
    -large Delirium Tremens glass
    -Tripel Karmeliet
-a dozen or so brewery branded pint glasses
-and probably the one I regret the most: a US Navy Submarine Ball commemorative pint glass from when I was in the Navy. Everything else can be replaced but that one.

It certainly does. And seeing this thread again makes me sad for a more recent loss... I have a pub mat that I keep on the half-counter above my sink for my regular-use and favorite glasses. Well, two weeks ago my cat decided to go exploring while my GF and I were in the shower, and I heard a sickening crash... Come out to find ALL my glasses knocked over and three of them shattered - KBS Spiegelau tulip, Yeti snifter, and my Buffalo Trace Glencairn all gone.

I have a few to share, fortunately not much blood involved in any of them

One was in college. Had a great Becks stein (1L) that made it through five years of college. I was moving back to MA in a few weeks and a girl broke it. I was pissed, but let's just say she apologized sincerely and at length.

    Still miss the glass though.

Second was not me, directly. One of my wife's friends had an Oktoberfest part last year and my wife wanted to buy a legit stein for it. We went to Karl's Sausage Kitchen in Peabody MA (a local family owned place that makes legit sausage of all kind and sells all kinds of German and Swedish goodies) and got one there. I already have a Hofbrau stein so I brought that.

They decided to have a stein hoisting contest and one of the guys used my wife's glass to participate. About 5 seconds in the bottom of the glass just fell off and shattered on the ground. A few of us had minor nicks but no one got cut badly by some miracle.

I'll jinx myself and add that I was at my parents for Thanksgiving and needed a beer glass. I was about to resort to a brandy snifter when I saw an old 0.5l stein that I'd bought in Berlin, West Germany in 1987 on a high school trip. The gold leaf on the rim is gone but the Berlin crest is still readable. I remember saying "man I can't believe this thing is still in one piece" thereby cursing it to break at some point in the near future.

Broke my Hill Farmstead glass thanksgiving night; dropped a crock pot on it. Mad as hell at first because they don't ship glasses and their swag, however looked at it as an opportunity for next summer. Already planning on a trip back to Vermont once The Alchemist brewery is finished.

I don't worry about beer glasses, because I have so many, too many really. What I cherish is an old Portuguese coffee cup, striped white and blue. It is the last of a set of 4 that my daughter and I bought for my wife over 20 years ago. I treasure that vessel and the memories. It is my wife's favorite cup.

I don't care if I break a glass unless it's rare...I've broken much more expensive glass that's not beer related as in 3-500$ oil rigs. That shit is heart breaking.

Ironically this is EXACTLY how I dry this glass. This is not how it met its demise. I was hand washing it about 8" above the sink and dropped it. I guess it was just its time to go.

You should rope off the area and then make a little tape outline of the glass.

Do we already have a memorial for the glassware that we've lost? If so, I apologize. If not, maybe we can use this thread for remembrance...

My NOLA tulip glass, one of my favorites, was dropped while i was washing it. Currently drowning my sorrows...[IMG]

Several years ago I was removing cobwebs from the ceiling of my apartment. The customary tool used is a mop covered in a slightly damp tshirt, of course.
I came to the area of a wall with two shelves holding several glasses/mugs/chalices of sentimental value.
The mop caught on something and knocked into the shelves which crashed to the floor. "Blast!" I yelled.
Who remembers the Miller sponsored Lowenbrau glasses? I had all of them. 2 of each: pilsner, heavy mug, and my favorite..a straight sided mug. But that was only a small sample of the glass I swept up from the floor...Harp, Guinness, Old Style, Strohs. Sam Adams, and local bar paraphernalia from Gerrmany, Knoxville, Ireland, and Chicago.

I'm in the process of moving and brought all my glasses over to the new place last night. Absolutely terrified to unwrap them all for fear of having something to add to this thread....

My wife knocked my Jester King Tulip off the counter and it shattered. Big bummer as I don't think I will get there anytime again soon. Ever since this happened, I buy tulips and snifters from breweries when available. You're always gonna break a glass at some point.

Several years ago I was at the HofbrÀuhaus in Newport, Kentucky. Upon finishing my liter of beer in the liter glass, I pointed out to the bartender that there was a small chip in the rim of the glass, and they might want to retire the glass before someone cuts their lip. She responded by rinsing it out and giving it to me to take home. She said they'd have to break it and throw it out, so she told me I could keep it. Pretty cool gesture.
