I was carrying two glasses in my hand after washing them. I was in my apartment, walking around barefoot. While I was walking one of the glasses somehow slipped out of my hand, fell to the ground and shattered -- but I was midstride so I ended up stepping in it, which caused me to drop the other one out of pain and an instinct to brace myself with my hand as I fell -- I stumbled, stepped in glass with my other foot and put my hand in it as I broke my fall.

The damage: 2 feet, one hand, an Ommegang snifter and an unbranded Libbey tulip.

Generally, as I am moving on to my third beer of the evening, I will shift my glassware to inferior yet sturdier shaker pints and thick mugs. They tend to survive the two foot fall from coffee table to carpeted floor. Plus it didn't help that my previous roommate had a Labrador retriever with a very active tail that swings exactly at coffee table beer glass height. The majority of total glassware losses were due to that tail.

I don't have any interesting stories about breaking my favorite glass or glasses because they all involve the real boring stuff like washing them.
I also paint, and I developed a fascination for painting on glass for several years. I made some rather large ones on glass shower doors and one day while down in storage I was moving one of them when I barely ticked it on some piping and the thing (all 3 x 5 feet of it) shattered and collapsed on to me.

Uggh, I hadn't broken any of my Spigelau glasses for years and suddenly a rash of breaking happened. I lost a tulip and two of their stout glasses. I'm weird about odd numbers of glasses and not having sets so I have replaced the tulip but am having problems finding the stout glasses. Speaking of this, I really need to add two more tekus and a set of snifters.

Accidentally broke my wife's Tree House teku because I rinsed it and was trying to shake the water out. It slipped and smashed in the sink. Needless to say, she wasn't too pleased...

Bought a few glasses at a thrift store... some really cool Euro ones and a Sam Adams Honey Porter thin walled pint glass. Put the heavier glass inside the Honey Porter glass.... big mistake. I was very careful, but by the time I got home, the Honey Porter glass had a nice crack in it. Too bad. They don't even make that beer anymore...

I was in Oregon and successfully brought home a nice new deGarde IPA glass straight from the brewery. Enjoyed a few beers from it and had it drying next to a few pots besides to the drying rack. Needless to say, the pot slipped unexpectedly, hit the glass and sent it falling to it's demise. I don't dry my beer glasses there anymore.

I have tons of beer glasses. I enjoy collecting them. I would say 92.678% of the time I am good about hand washing them, but occasionally they end up in the dishwasher. Over the holidays my lady bought a different dishwasher soap and ran a load with about 6 glasses in there. The new soap took the brewery logos mostly off the glasses. I was pretty pissed as a few were hard to find. Although they weren't broken, they might as well have been.

I broke my last remaining Lion Stout glass the other night. It was one of the longest used, most travelled glasses I've owned and definitely had the most sentimental value. My mother gave a set to me when I turned 21 over a decade ago. A friend broke two of my other go-to glasses last night. One Ommegang chalice and my beloved, though thankfully easy to replace, Duvel glass. That's the last time I get my wifes friends drunk on wine and let them use my glassware on the brick patio. C'est la vie.

At the Milwaukee Brewing Company Brewery Tour they give you your glass at the start of the tour and you get basically unlimited refills for free during the tour. I was there for a friends' bachelor party a few years ago (was already tipsy going into the tour) and got tanked and dropped my glass on the pavement upon exiting the tour.

I still need to buy a new snifter after breaking the Duvel one I owned for maybe two weeks.. Slipped out of my hand in the sink (this must happen far too often, that shit gets slippery as fuck and being inebriated makes this even more likely)

I mostly have cheap sets of stuff from Target, but I do have a few glasses I've ordered from breweries that I'm always paranoid about breaking. So far, only two glasses broken, both cheap Target glasses, one by me and one by my boyfriend. Kind of a funny story...

My boyfriend broke my favorite tulip while washing it and trying to shake out a couple drops of water, slammed it into a heavy duty coffee cup in the sink and demolished it. Easy to replace, no big deal. A couple weeks later, I had a few beers and overestimated my abilities. I went to pull my wheat beer glass from the shelf and smacked the top of it against the shelf above it, broke the entire top 1/4 of the glass off in one big jagged piece. I was pretty tipsy by that point and I called my boyfriend, almost in tears, to tell him we were "even now because I broke something too." He sped home (only like a minute away at that point) afraid I broke something of his out of retaliation, and found me almost weeping over the broken glass.

I have lost many beers, but (knock on wood) no glasses yet. Which is shocking considering how often my wife complains about how many I have..

I stopped at the thrift store one afternoon to donate some plastic grocery bags, which they use at the checkout. While I was there, I browsed through the glassware and picked up a vintage Pabst Extra Light lager glass, along with a couple of other pieces. When I took them to the checkout, they wrapped them carefully in newspaper and placed them into one of the bags I had donated. When I got home, the Pabst glass slipped through a hole in the bottom of the bag. I can't help thinking that I deserved this somehow:

Was out of town for the week, got home and my son had loaded the dishwasher and put/wedged one of my SN Spiegelau IPA glasses (etched at the bottom). Broke the shit out of it. Not to be that guy, simply told him to go put it in the trash.

My cuvée des trolls 50CL glass, a gift from a friend he bought me after a great birthday night in a pub many years ago. I'm also clumsy. I broke it in the sink. No pics as it was some weeks back and never noticed this thread before.

For the record I break a glass (other than beer glassware) every other months, gah.
