broken glasses

ripip, my first teku.

 

I've broken a lot of glasses, because I'm clumsy. I always seem to break or lose my mini snifters at tastings. It's a running joke at this point (luckily I buy the $2 World Market variety)

 

I bought a really nice rastal weizen glass at the eccentric cafe several years ago when I was in Kalamazoo for work - it lasted less than a month

 

I broke two glasses 2 weeks ago only days apart. A teku and my DFH IPA glass. Man, those IPA glasses are fragile... For the most part, I'm pretty careful and lucky, though.

 

Saw a few of the DFH glasses at a local shop last week if you need a replacement.

 

got this beauty in the mail from belgium last week--got a chance to drink one cantillon out of it before my wife cracked it in the sink. It was in my possession for 28 hours

 

My dog's tail made short work of this one. I need a replacement.

 

as for favorite glasses Im partial to this one. something about the shape makes it perfect for just about any beer. Used to have two before a friend broke the second one.

Most recently was my DFH IPA glass and New Belgium tulip. Wife knocked them off the counter as they were on the drying rack. It sucks when it happens, but then it makes space for different new glasses I guess.

This is one of only two examples of this version of the 2008 (2007 lettering) Darkness glass that I'd ever seen. It was in my possession all of an hour, before this happened while giving it a gentle wash.

 

The only beer glass I've broken was a Duvel art series glass, but my bartender buddy had gotten that some one for free and gave it to me as a replacement, so no hard done, really.

 

My favorite glass used to be a immortal ale snifter that I had. I guess I sat it down too hard one day, I used it without a stem for about a week

 

Bought 2 of the DFH IPA glasses last week after drinking a few at my local bottle shop. I was a little heavy handed while hand washing one of them and broke it. It lasted only 20 minutes inside my house.

 

Got a Bourbon County snifter from a regular trading partner a couple weeks ago. Only used it twice. GF was doing dishes yesterday when the stuff in the dishrack shifted and a frying pan came down on it.

I've broken a few, but I think it's pretty amazing how few that is given how careless I am with them sometimes. My issue is when they do break, it seems to be the strangest little thing that does it.

Cat jumps on the coffee table with 5 various pieces of stemware on it? - no problem
Asleep in the hammock holding a half-full globe? - no problem, didn't even spill.
Empty glass tumbles down the (carpeted) stairs? - no problem

Tapped the glass gently on the side of the sink? - fuckin glass everywhere.

My current favorites are my Elysian pumpkin glasses & NB globes. The nucleated NB globes are pretty much the most versatile beer glass ever.
