New spot in Union Sq Somerville, opening soon (if not already) with a German/Central European focus across food, beer, and wine. The beer menu includes beer name, style, where it's from, serving size, ABV, and price - nice! http://bronwynrestaurant.com/ (scroll down for the link to the food/drink menus)
Any idea if they are going to have more drafts than just the house beer (Wurzburger)? Bottle list is solid with some nice German semi-obscurities, but I like German beer on draft when I go out. Definitely going to give this place a shot - the area sorely needs some real German food...
Judging from the photos that have come out, they'll almost certainly have more than one draft. There's a shot of the bar here that shows several tap lines (while some of these could be wines that are served on tap, I doubt that all of them are). http://boston.eater.com/archives/2013/05/13/gorge-your-eyes-upon-bronwyn-opening-may-15.php Also, just an educated guess, but I'm assuming that anything listed on the menu as 16 ounces (and not denoted as a "can") is probably on draft. That would mean these are probably on draft, in addition to the house beer: Hofbrau, Original Lager, Munich, DE 16oz Thomas Hooker, Munich Lager, Bloomfield, CT 16oz. 4.8% Kulmbacher, EKU Pilsner, Kulmbach, DE 16oz 5% Ayinger, Brau Weisse, Aying, DE 16oz. 5.1% Erdinger, Weissbrau, Erding, DE 16oz. 5.6% Schneider, Sommer Weiss, Munich, DE 16oz 5.4%
Nice--given the accolades heaped on their other restaurant, TW Food, I have high hopes for this place. The online beer list looks to be all bottle/cans. To round it out, I'd love to see a doppelbock, weizenbock, and dunkelweiss (nm I see the Weinhenstephan) on the list. Also, the Slumbrew Sun Rising "altbier" stands out for two reasons: 1) it's pricy, and 2) it's a dampfbier, not an alt or a lager:
Yeah I think you're probably right about those 16oz drafts. Bit of an odd way to lay out the menu, but those are definitely beers you'd find on draft.
This page mentions that there will be 10 draft lines... http://boston.eater.com/archives/20...erving-riesling-sauerkraut-on-may-15.php#more Little pricey (kinda expected) but still looking forward to trying this place...German food is my soul food, and as cbeer88 said, the area needs it. Jacob Wirth's could really own the German thing if they wanted to, but they don't seem like they want to fully commit.
