Had this last year fairly fresh and wasn't terribly impressed. Luckily, it's easy to come by. Just wondering what experiences you guys have had cellaring this stuff? Worth investing in a few to put in the cellar? Thanks people.

It is significantly better with at 2+years on it.

Definitely worth cellaring. I bought some last year, and it was somewhat hot. I cracked open a few of last years bottles, and they are drinking great now. The alcohol heat is non existent one year later, and the beer is very smooth, and delicious.

Bought a sixer last year and really disliked it. Will revisit a bottle this year and then next to see if there's improvement. Really not good fresh, so I'm not overly optimistic.

I grab a case of this every year and throw it in a dark corner. Definitely hot fresh but turns into a great, cheap stout with age.

I have a 4 pack from 2011 and the beer has turned out amazing. I had one from the cellar and wanted to drink another after having it. I love that stuff.

I've heard this ages very well and starts to significantly fall off with 4-5 years on it. Some shops around me still have some from last year hanging around.

I just cracked a 2009 w/ a fellow BA and we both thought it was much better than expected.

    Cheers

Liked it a lot with a year, wish I could get it more easily.

I actually liked it "fresh," which was actually several months old from the shop. But I did put the other 3 away to see what would would happen. I just moved 1 to my fridge which is now about a year old. I hope to drink it soon and will report back.

Really unimpressive fresh. Just had one not too long ago with almost a year on it. Significantly better but still not impressive. Still some alcohol coming through. Maybe 2 years is the trick?

Personally, like it both fresh and aged. Not as hot with a year on it. Along with Old Rasputin, one of the best values for the money as far as RIS's go.

This. I like it fresh too, some years are hotter than others, but always good. One year age on it proves almost perfect.

I think it's a sold beer fresh but if you weren't a fan not sure aging it would change anything, it definitely mellows out with age. Man I miss when they sold this in 6 packs.

I've got the 08-09, 09-10, 10-11, and 11-12 vintages. Can't wait to pick up this year's and complete the 5-year vertical.

I just feel based on its price point and availability, this (and Stone IRS) are great beers to age & see how they develop.

this one lasts about 5-6 years...I wouldn't push it past that unless you like some oxidation and chalkiness in your stouts. Great beer to take along for a multi-year ride though...and you can't beat the price!
