Headed to NYC for work and a mini vacation this week. I've done many of the usual suspects in manhattan over the past few years and I am seeking some help or ideas for a brooklyn beer crawl on Thursday. I will be staying at my sister's on the les and a thinking of heading to Williamsburg to go to Brooklyn brewery, mugs, barcode. Are all of these easily walkable from one another? What is the best subway stop to get off at? I assume many of these places may not open till later in the afternoon. Any other hints or tips for places to go? A German beer garden or a place with great food and beers would be cool.

Also, any newer places in manhattan, besides beer authority, I should check out? (especially in east village lower east side area).is the beer garden at eataly worth it? I have never been to pony bar or spitzers corner and plan on going to them. Thanks in advance for the help

As far as the beer in eataly, it has been good cask conditioned ales, but the wait time can be very long, and they are also $10 a pint. Eataly is an awesome store, and not a bad stop if you want to get an espresso, gelato, or other snack while on a bar crawl, but dont go just for beer.

Other places around the east village that I have gone to on a few bar crawls are jimmy 43, hop devil, and crocodile lounge. Ji,mmy 43 has a small, but very good selection of drafts. Last time I was there, they had a few from dieu de ciel. Hop devil has a wider selection and I have never been dissapointed there. Crocodile lounge has about 16 or so drafts, ussually a founders, a sixpoint or two, and a few others. Where they dont have the best beer selection, you get a free bar pie with each drink. That makes it a great stop in the middle of a bar crawl.

Have fun, and I hope this helps.

Plus one to Williamsburg. in Manhattan take L from 14th St. Bedord ave. Biergarden that you want is Radegast Hall. Also Check out gotham-imbiber.com which has this mapped out

FYI: According to their website, it looks like the brewery is only open for their small batch tours at 5 PM on Monday through Thursday. Someone else may be able to chime in and confirm this, since I haven't been to to Brooklyn Brewery in a while. If you can't schedule yourself for one of the small batch tours, it's not a big deal, there are a ton of great beer bars in the area.

Two other good beer bars in the area are d.b.a. and Spuyten Duyvil (Spuyten has no sign, so it can be tricky to find). Like jimmy 82063 said, Radegast Hall would certainly fit your bill for German biergarten with food. Other recommendations for food are Fette Sau (a barbeque place across from Spuyten Duyvil, has six craft beers on tap. Since you order by the pound, food can get a bit pricy - about $20 to fill you up). I recommend Best Pizza on Havermeyer Street if you just want a slice.

Also second the recommendation for checking out the gotham-imbiber.com map. It is really helpful. All of this is in walking distance. IMO, Williamsburg is one of the great bar crawl locations in the country due to the close proximity of multiple great beer bars. Enjoy!

Proteus is correct that Brooklyn Brewery is only open for small batch tours during the week. If you can sign up I recommend it.

Top Hops in the LES is pretty cool as is Spitzer's Corner.

Check out Good Beer in the EV.

    Avoid Eataly.

All the aforementioned Brooklyn bars are within walking distance. I'll recommend Brouwerij Lane in Greenpoint as well.

A few others areThe Gutter if you want to do some bowling and The Diamond. They have a very different selection than your usual place.
My friends and i did a brooklyn pub crawl in february. Since we do williamsburg every year we changed it up a little this year and started off in park slope. You have to check out a place called the Downtown Bar & Grill. Their bottle selection is crazy. A little expensive but if you want to try something rare or something aged that is the place to go.

I have a blog that list several places with links to either their web site or beer menus.
http://brooklynpubcrawl.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to the bottom and you should see a number of places with said links.

Have fun and let us know how it went!!

thanks for all the suggestions everyone!! Looking forward to trying a bunch of these places out. Emailed a few days back about the small batch tour for Thurs but apparently they are having a private event that night.

Also, any food recs (thai, pizza, bbq, pub food, whatever!) in williamsburg? One friend suggested a place called berry park.
