Doing my first batch and I put my air lock on 2 days ago. Checked it today and it was lose. How hard do I need to push it in? What else could I have done wrong? Is my beer ruined????

Sometimes stoppers work them selves lose or ride up out of the carboy opening. I have one that does this and I haven't lost a batch yet. When you check on it just push it down a little and walk away. As long as the stoppers plugging the opening you should be fine! Your first batch is always going to cause you worry so just relax it will be ok!

If it was just loose you should be fine, if you are one gallon brewing it is always good to use a blow off hose for the first 2-3 days and then put in your airlock. There is not much room in those one gallon growlers so the first few days of fermentation can pop your airlock. In the future just use some tubing and run it from your stopper into a bowl or bottle of sanitized water until things settle down. Good luck and enjoy your first brew!

Yea, you should be ok......first couple days you got plenty Co2 filling up that space under the airlock and pushing out any nasties.
