My wife signed me up for the Brooklyn Greenleaf race in October. I am looking for must-hit breweries in the Brooklyn area (not really interested in bars). Other Half is more than likely a definite for me. I know about the Search function in the upper right, just looking for recommendations.
Beyond Other Half: Grimm (assuming it's open) Threes Sixpoint (assuming taproom is open) Interboro Greenpoint I would call those my must-hit breweries. Additional options include: KCBC Folksbier Strong Rope (for more traditional styles) Lineup Five Boroughs Keg & Lantern and I guess Brooklyn Brewery should be on the list, though I'm not much of a fan of going there because of how damn busy it always gets
Good list.. I always suggest Brooklyn Brewery just because of how long they have been there and shear size and proximity
I know that Brooklyn Kura is located in Industry City producing sake and I have to say, after having it on tap at Gold Star Beer Counter (awesome bar, by the way), they merit a visit to Industry City on their own---assuming of course one is into sake. I also would argue that KCBC belongs above with the must-hits, as does Finback, although I suppose their distance from everything is why they were omitted from this list.
Sort of/not really. They pour at Industry City Distillery. I think along with Wartega? With Finback technically in Queens, I left it off, but agree they're at that level. Nave Mahana is delicious. KCBC straddles the line for me, which is why it's top of the alternates list. Tried to keep the additional "Musts" to 5, as a completely arbitrary number.
If you're going to go to OH, you might as well hit up Folksbier since it's a 5 min walk away. It's a very chill environment and has a great selection of beers.
