My brother loves himself some craft beer. He's not on BA, so he asked if I knew any good beers to pick up while he visits the in-laws with his wife and kids.

    I don't.

I'm assuming he's not going to bars or breweries, but what can I suggest he picks up? Something local, something he'd likely have no trouble finding at most beer stores? Any suggestions? He's in Fort Myers, not sure where (hence the generality of the requests).

Of course, I'd let him know that I'd gladly take some generous gifts when he returns. He likes ipas, pales, and beers that fall on the lighter side; For me, I'm on the darker side of the hobby. Stouts, barleywines, porters.

    Thanks, Florida BA's.

It's on the wrong coast, but still south Florida, and it's probably distributed there: Funky Buddha makes a pretty good hefe called, fittingly, Floridian Hefeweizen. For an IPA, I'm not sure if they distribute this far out of Tampa Bay, but Big Storm makes a phenomenal IPA called Arcus. If he can find it, that's an absolute must-get.

Unfortunately no darker beers are coming to mind, sorry. I mentioned Funky Buddha and their Maple Bacon Coffee Porter is one of the most hyped beers in the state, but it's very limited. I think your brother's best shot is go into a Total Wine or something and ask if they have any local recommendations.

There have been several strings recently about the Fort Myers and some phenomenal suggestions from my BA friends who live down that way. I'd agree with @maxson924 that Total Wine may be your brother's best one-stop bet. They would have the CCB can lineup along with the aforementioned Arcus and probably also Tampa Bay Brewing's Reef Donkey (a super-good American pale ale) and 3 Daughters stuff.
