I just came across a small stash of 3F Intense Red at Tenuta's in Kenosha. Is this typical? The shit was expensive but I was so shocked to see any 3F bottle in front of me that it wasn't even a question whether I was buying one or not. Has anyone seen anything from 3F elsewhere? Is this the kind of thing I should be doing secret handshakes at discount for?

I have not...I must need to learn the secret handshake at discount (and anywhere else)

I have seen 3F show up at Riley's in Madison on rare occasions. Last time I saw any was in March 2013.

I've seen Golden Blend and Intense Red last year. I think it was at Discount MKE but can't remember for sure.

I too have only ever seen Golden Blend (Casanova's) and Intense Red (Keyport, in Superior).

    Should've bought...sigh.

Yes. I wish there were still Drie Fonteinen bottles to buy around here. Despite the non-ideal storage conditions at Riley's, I had no compunction at all about loading up on Golden Blend.

A friend of mine picked up intense red in WI Dells not that long ago. No guarantees on it still being there.

Intense Red has been at Discount for quite some time. I think the price point is the reason why. It's tasty but it ain't cheap. Golden Blend is the only other one I've seen around.

Funny reading this post. I just saw the same thing Thursday evening in Indiana. They had 5 or 6 bottles apiece of Intense Red and Golden Doesjel. At approx. $25 apiece I could only bring myself to buy one of each, but know they've been sitting on the shelves for quite some time and I was just oblivious to them.

For those keeping track, in the last three to four years, the MKE area has received two shipments of Drie Fonteinen that I am aware of:

    1. Golden Blend / Oude Gueuze - late 2012 / early 2013 as I recall. There was a good bit of Oude Gueuze that showed up - know I saw it at Discount and Downer. (Also right around the time of the last big shipment of Cantillon. I felt like Shelton was making up for something when both Cantillon and 3F showed up at roughly the same time.)

    2. Intense Red - Fall 2013 I think.

As others have said, both the Golden Blend and Intense Red have hung around due to the price tag.

Shelton Brothers pretty much hates Wisconsin from what I can tell. People here don't drink enough shitty imports to warrant getting the good ones in their eyes.

Trendy beer bars and restaurants in NYC, SF, SD, etc. have seriously cut into Cantillon distribution #'s. There are several bars in SD where bottles are always available (for twice what you would pay in a bottle shop) and of course they have to be consumed on premises.

It's a trend we should expect to continue- big cities are pulling in more and more distribution of not only high-end imports but really great American craft brews as well. For instance, Knee Deep recently signed on to distro in NYC- skipping over the entire continent of North America in the meantime.

I would make some trades for some Intense red for NG beers.
It's just hanging around shelves here in.

Not true. Michigan gets Knee Deep. Picked some Simtra up while in Traverse City.

According to seekabrew.com MN sees limited distro and OH gets it as well.

I had no idea they hopped around a bit. That's awesome news. Simtra is one of my all-time favorites- I got a bit bristly when I heard the news about NYC distribution.

The only downfall for the NG sender would be the sheer volume of wonderfully priced NG beer pounds someone would have to send to get to $4$ on that itsy bitsy bottle.

Very true. I love that you guys have some of the best beer in the world just sitting on the shelf at your local grocery store.
