Noticed there isn't a thread on here about these guys. Never had them before up until yesterday when I picked up a 4 pack of their Dig My Earth hazy DIPA. There was a huge pallet of the stuff in my local liquor store, figured I would pick up a pack. If everything else they make is like this DIPA, then they are CRUSHING it. Going back for a couple more packs this evening. Their stuff is easily found at a ton of liquor stores and this one is a solid haze bomb that is on the same level with local stuff you wait in lines for or buy on EB or BPT. Keep an eye out for these guys!

Wow, they've barely been open a year and they're already cranking out solid DIPAs? In retrospect I guess Bottle Logic was in the same position when FO first came out...

Good brewers make good beer then?

I had Dig My Earth yesterday and while it was overall good I wouldn't say it was a home run even for the "style". Honestly I felt the haze got in the way of it being a great beer, if they cleaned up the haze and refined the grain bill it could be a excellent DIPA.

but that's my overall critic of the "style" in general. The only thing I like about the "haze craze" is the push towards freshness means I'm getting a pretty fresh IPA-like beer.

From what I remember is that the brewers were initially renting out spaces in various cities around the South Bay, but would get kicked out for some reason?( I think I'm wrong here) and landed at the port of San Pedro and I'm sure it's due to the attractiveness of the Crafted building which opened up few years prior. Their taproom took quite a few years to open as well. Living in a neighboring city I had heard of talks about a dedicated brewery opening in S.P. for a while. So production wise, they've been at it for a while.

I bought like 4 or 5 four packs of the last batch of Picnic Lightning, really solid stuff, thanks for the heads up on this new one, I'll go grab a four pack at my local that carries them.

    Cheers,

Picked up a 4 pack today. Thought it was really solid. Gave a taste to a non beer drinking friend and he enjoyed it too.

They were mainly gypsy brewing out of Davis for a few years. Brian Mercer, the owner, is from Pedro and said he always wanted to open the permanent brewery in Pedro...just had to wait for the right time and place (and money).

Their story is pretty interesting, and their beers beyond their IPAs are solid. Popfuji is a solid pilsner. Their Saison is great. Their quad is also pretty good

Popfuji is a very good beer, hopefully they make it year round.

Quick question for you: How much was the 4 pack at your local?

My local shops in Torrance/Redondo Beach range in price from 20-25 for the four pack

Pack I picked up was $20.99 plus tax and CRV at my local liquor store, so almost $24. Could probably cost up to $25 a pack depending on which store you're going to?

Brouwerij West deserves a lot of praise for many things. The location is amazing, size-wise and ambiance is perfect, probably the best space for any brewery around here. They've had some really great beer on draft since release, and their Dog Ate My Homework is a spectacular year-round.

Some other solid releases from the past year:

    Cofffee Tripel
    Super Orange
    Spelt Saison

Not entirely sure as I picked up the 4 pack and a Jam the Radar together. Total was 53.00 so somewhere around 20 plus tax I guess.

they make it up this way. while i enjoy some of their beers they are on the pricier side for DIPAs, normally above $5 a can. i give their beers a shot tho. i think id rather spend $5 on a can from fieldwork instead tho. Now if they were $3-$4 a can id be all over it.

I agree that it's a little high of a price point, but the product they're putting out is high quality it seems. They're even using locally sourced proprietary barley (I think? May be wrong). I have Drops of Jupiter, Left Right Left Right, No Haze Off, and Dinosaur World all in the fridge right now. Having tasted all of them side by side within the last 24 hours, Dig My Earth is better than all of them (in my opinion), besides Dino World. Dino World still reigns supreme.

If they knocked the price down to $15 a pack, these packs would move like hotcakes.

Wherever he got it, I guarantee it's long gone by now. Any time a case hits distro it's gone within an hour or two. Less than an hour if the store puts it up on Instagram.
