I figure if I can navigate HoB for shitty overpriced beer in a crowd of yahoos then I can handle anything this place will throw my way and be much happier with what's in the glass.

Saw X last December at the ObservatoryOC. Before then saw them waaaay back in the late 70's. Or was it 80? Don't remember. Anyways they killed it at the O. Not going to their anny party. Too much of a shit show for me these days. Have fun.

Because what's almost as fun as drinking beers is ranking beers!

    Alligator
    Ask the Dust
    Dig My Earth
    Starfish
    Tahiti Substation
    8 1/2
    Falling Water

Still haven't tried Picnic Lightning and some others, of course.

From the event page on BPT: "The weekend will also feature a special anniversary can release, our first mixed fermentation bottle releases, plus a bunch of one-off beers that weekend. More details on the beer as the event gets closer!"

Anyone seen these details posted anywhere yet?

I saw this on an IG post about a month ago as well. The post also said “more details next week”, but they haven’t posted any other details that I’m aware of. I’ll be there regardless. The can release and one-off beers will be a nice bonus.

Same. Just wondering how long in advance (if at all) we'll have to uber down before the festivities start.

Much improvement! @Black_Rider , 10+ days of planning ahead. And I thought you were going to take things at least a day ahead.

Why are the Majority of their hazy IPA’s 6.5% abv?

Because that's the perfect ABV for an IPA! 6.5 - 7.2

@AyeDogg apparently you are too afraid to enrage in a rap battle with me. which I understand

    Why are Beachwood's IPA's at 7.1%?

Don't they use the exact same malt bill for their base IPAs and change up the hop recipes/profiles to showcase the flavors those hops exhibit?

Had a great time at the 2d anniversary event. Brouwerij West is very fortunate to have such a great space to be able to put on an event like this.

I continue to be impressed by how breweries have become community gathering spots, all the more reason to continue supporting independent breweries.

Stopped today while visiting the folks. The 2nd Anniversary IPA is fantastic. Easily one of my favorites since Ask The Dust. Also, the peach mixed fermentation sour was pretty good.

show was fun. was much more packed than I expected. for some reason I thought they'd be playing inside, and it was going to be a smaller crowd

Mike Watt was awesome. Anny IPA was tasty (had many). also was cool to bump into @Trystero

old curmudgeon rant: thought it was pretty poorly organized. lines were long for everything. line just to get into the venue took like 45 minutes. why I don't know. then there was a line to get a wristband. then the line for beer was insane. then lines for food were insane. then lines for bathrooms was insane. I may have some hazebro tendencies, but waiting in line is not one of them. I usually avoid these types of events for this very reason. for some reason I thought this would be a smaller affair. anyway, still had fun

had my phone knocked out of my hand as a slam pit formed behind me. my own fault I know for filming. it was a miracle I found it on the ground while getting trampled

Couldn't agree more. Mike Watt frickin KILLED IT. That was definitely the highlight and honestly made the whole thing worth it. But...

The organization... Good lord. I honestly can't remember the last time I've come that close to pissing my pants. Seriously, there were like 15 porta potties for a 2000+ person event. By the third band, several notorious "johns" were being designated "Boys only" as levels of human waste were starting to overflow toilets and people were going #2 in the wall stalls. It's like event-planning 101 (especially at a beer event!) to have adequate and well spaced bathroom facilities. Lines for the 4 beers (?) they had on tap were also pretty gnarly until Mike Watt and X started.

And truly, I don't know if this is just me and the friend I went with, but did anyone else feel a little bait and switched with the whole anniversary beer releases? As I said, the man in the van with a bass in his hand made it all worth it, but our original impression (when buying tickets over a month ago) was that the "beer anniversary" and the concert were not two separate things. There were a few people on instagram who seemed to echo similar sentiments. Getting there and seeing a grand total of 4 beers on tap, not including any of their hazy canned offerings besides the anniversary beer, was disappointing to say the least. It strikes me a little weird that when bringing in so many potential new customers, you wouldn't want to highlight some of your best beers, and instead went with a more basic taplist than I've ever seen when visiting the brewery.

I almost pissed my pants too. literally. I actually contemplated just going and pissing somewhere behind the food trucks, but there was truly nowhere to go

the fact that they had the restrooms in the brewery closed added insult to injury
