was thinking about making a brown ale next weekend, and wondered if anyone had any good recipies (extract)?

was thinking about making it a little hoppier, and thoughts?
also was considering adding a little rye. anyone ever try this? any thoughts? I was thinking the crispness / spiciness of the rye would be interesting with the malts.

For what it's worth, a clone for 1970s Newcastle Brown.
    7 lb pale malt
    8 oz crystal malt
    3 oz chocolate malt
1 lb soft dark brown sugar
    2 oz Fuggles hops
1 1/2 oz Northern Brewers hops

No spec given for the crystal malt-at the time there was only 1 sort available.

Hoppier than what, for instance? And what kind of brown ale are you thinking about?

i've had a few hoppy browns (maybe brown ipa's or something). the only commercial ones that comes to mind is terrapin hop karma or dogfish indian brown

open to ideas. was thinking about grabbing a few recipies off line and either winging it or asking the LHBS for advice

If you liked DFH, brew that. DFH made the recipe available and can be found online.

the IBA recipe from DFH has become my house beer, i always keep it around, because it's always good. I'm bottling my latest batch in a week.
