I really enjoy American Brown Ales and some English Bitter ales and English dark ales but they are so hard to find but once a year. Newcastle, Sam Smith, Leffe are my fallback the rest of the year but looking for something more year round, liked Founders Brown & Bell’s brown this year but they come and go so quick. Any suggestions on dark or brown ales more readily available I may be overlooking? Thanks

I haven't tried it yet, but Cigar City just started showing up in my part of Pennsylvania and their Maduro seems to be highly regarded.

If you like dark English ales, Yards Brawler is great and should be easy to find.

I see a lot of Avery Ellie’s Brown. Brooklyn Brown is also year round

also yes. Please drink Yards Brawler. Dark mild style ticks both your boxes mentioned.

Ellie's is everywhere. I'm not sure how far they make it out of Colorado but Telluride face down brown is a great offering and laughing lab from Bristol is a well made scotch ale. There is always the brown note as well.

All great suggestions -thank you. I have drank plenty of Yards Brawler (being from Phila area) and Ellie's and Cigar City browns really came and went quickly this year. I should have stocked up. I haven't found a place that carries Smuttynose beers near me but have enjoyed Old Brown Dog a plenty when seeing family in New England. Thank you for all the suggestions. Will be on the hunt for Voodoo and Telluride

It's the season for Boulevard Plaid Habit, it may be out and about where you are (whisky barrel brown)
Founders Underground Mountain Brown may be around as well
While the label is errrg, I think Against the Grain Brown Note is a fine brown ale as well.

If you want a little more Alcohol kick, step up to Wee Heavy Scoth Ales. Oskar Blues Old Chub 6pack cans for around $10 is hard to beat (price/quality/ABV).

As mentioned above, Old Brown Dog is a good brown. It's getting harder to find in central PA though.

The Madura is very good although maybe a tad too sweet for some. I often go with Von Trapps Dunkle to meet my dark needs (yeah, I know it’s a lager) as it’s readily available at my super market.

Forest & Main makes some killer English styles. They’re mostly brewery-only though, non-year round and are a bit pricier than the ones you mentioned. Worth the splurge though, IMO.

Yes, Forest & Main brews some of the best British-style beers anywhere. On cask is far superior, but they also have some decent milds, bitters and small stouts in cans from time to time — and if you’re in SEPA, they deliver.

Did you see that barleywine they announced? Tempted to make a drive over today; not enough English barleywines on the market these days.

I did see that and was actually tempted ... but the one other barleywine I’ve had from them was my least favorite of all their beers.

Duck Rabbit brewery has a very good brown ale, though I am not sure the brewery is in your area. Also, Bell's has an excellent brown ale; however, it is seasonal. Unfortunately, most breweries neglect this style.
