    English brown > American brown.

Rogue Hazelnut and Cali-craft Oaktown brown are my 2 favs.

Never really cared for Brown Ales until I had Tyranena Wrath of Rocky. 100% Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Brown Ale. It's the Imperial version of Rocky's Revenge which is partially Bourbon Barrel aged. If you are a fan of Brown Ales then do yourself a favor and seek it out. I thought picking up 3 4pks from the brewery would be enough, I was completely mistaken!! Hope I can find more cause those vanished rather quickly!! Just the perfect Bourbon notes to it and at roughly 7.5% goes down quickly!

Add-on - Stone Imperial Mutt Brown was really tasty. Had it on tap and was really impressed.

    This is sad, but true.

I actually really enjoy brown ales, especially in October-November. I associate the toastiness of a brown ale to leaves changing in the fall. I am sure I am not the first to say that.

To me, all Brown Ales taste like a cheap cup of coffee.. Like, a severely watered down stout. I've nearly given up.

I rediscover browns every couple of months. I tire of the hoppy ales & need to recharge my taste buds. For some reason, I stick with a particular style for a while, then switch it up.

Now need to go get a sixer of bells best brown.

I love seeing a thread on brown ales, as they are a style I enjoy immensely. I also think this is what is great about beer, so many people love browns, others don't at all! I will also contend to this day that AleSmith nautical nut brown is one of the best beers I've ever had.

I think brown ales get grouped with other styles like Amber ales which, to some drinks, aren't that exciting. I'm one of those, but am trying to find more examples of the style in order to explore it more. So far the only one that I can say I would buy a sixer of is Real Ales Brewhouse Brown!

I'm not a big fan of Browns but I do enjoy one occasionally. I find them generally too sweet for my tastes.

Time was when every small local brewer had at least one brown ale on the books, then they all but disappeared.Don't take any notice of "northern" or "southern"brown ales styles , each brewer up and down the country suited itself.

I am seeing more breweries "play" with browns more, and I am enjoying it.

Three of the things I have seen recently:

    Souring brown ale
    Cold brew coffee brown
    Vanilla brown

All are good spins on browns.

I also enjoy a good brown ale every now and then. I tend to like English browns better. Sam Smith's Nut Brown is right up there with my favorite beers.

I used to enjoy darker beers a great deal more, though then I hadn't found my green tongue. After that, brown ales didn't really hold my attention as much. If I am in the mood for something roasty, I generally go for a stout and that will quell the thirst for some time while I drink other beers. I have noticed it making something of a resurgence in my drinking desire, though. I'll have to explore this phenomenon more deeply after a few beers...

In the vein of the recently popular threads regarding AALs and Kolsch, I thought I'd start this thread having been inspired by the Moose Drool I consumed last night after putting it off for some time. It was in the fridge but so was a selection of Pale Ales and IPA.

I was a little surprised. Not that I hadn't had it before, but I didn't remember it being very noteworthy...

But why does a beer have to be noteworthy? Moose Drool beats the p*ss out of Newcastle, which used to be my favorite beer.

    What's your favorite brown ale?

Edit: this post probably only makes any sense if you know that I started a thread and it was merged with this one.
