Brown Shugga cat piss ?

    I am seriously trying to enjoy some Lagunitas Brown Shugga i picked up today, but damn if it doesnt smell and taste like cat piss. I used to have an old cat named Buddy that at 16 would scratch at the back door and if you weren't fast enough, his bladder wouldn't hold out and he would piss on the door. And holy hell, but damned if this beer I have been waiting for and anxious to try doesnt smell just like my old cat pissed on the back door, has a taste reminescent of it too. Is this abnormal or is this just a beer that is not for me and my personal palate. As an aside, i love all of Lagunitas other brews, and would rate them as one of the best brewers i have ever sampled. They are beyond a doubt top notch. Does anyone else get a "cat piss" feel off this beer?

    I didn't get that flavor, I just got really sugary sweet malts. Wasn't for me, but cat piss it was not. Luckily my roommate really enjoys it.

    hmmm. maybe i had a magic cat that pissed Brown Shugga. lol. Cause it smells exactly like that. And to AnalogErik, wasnt really a rant just a honest question. I know its a highly rated beer, so i was figuring something was off with me. And no, have not tasted cat piss, but damned if it didnt smell like this brew i am sampling.

    Wow, weird. I just poured a Sculpin and the reason for me signing onto BA was that I thought it smelled and tasted like cat piss and I wanted to read the reviews. True story!

    With that being said, I've probably had a case of Brown Sugga over the past month or so and I have never thought that it smelled or tasted like cat piss. Must be a pissy day.

    Is it Sucks,AKA Brown sugga substitute? To me, Sucks has a bit of this quality, but not in a bad way. Brown sugga has always been sweet and malty to me.

    ok, must be up in my funky head then. hell, as an aside i love citrus hops and cant get enough, but on the other hand piney stuff is something i cant stand. same reason i cant drink gin at all. must just be a personal thing and i will treat it as such. still Lagunitas Sumpin Sumpin, Sumpin Wild, Imperial Stout, IPA, Censored and so are all top notch, great brewer, i guess this one is just not for me.

    Not cat piss, but was compeltely underwhelmed too. Sweet mess. And I like Sumpin Sumpin and Sucks alot.
