Anyone tried aging this to let more of the caramel characteristics come through?

Bought this last year and aged it for a year in hopes that it would develop into something like real brown sugar. Drank one in a small vertical a few weeks ago.... Not even close. The hop presence never really fades but rather decays into this unpleasant bitterness. The malt does get a little sweeter but not in the way I was hoping for, more of a candy sweet. But in the end everything is ruind by the awful bitterness.

I had a year old bottle last week and found it largely unchanged. That is to say, hoppy with no brown sugar flavor. Still a relatively juicy sweet/semi-sweet beer, but I don't think it tastes like brown sugar.

I was very disappointed last year when i tried it at one year.

This year, at two years, it is transforming into a beautiful barleywine. Really glad I waited another year.

    Anyone had it at three?
