Thanks. If I'm understanding you correctly, that sucks. They don't operate like other breweries do with a "to go" bottle shop? If that's the case, glad I asked.

Guess it'll be a better use of my time to locate some quality bottle shops to between LA and Pasadena rather than trek out to The Bruery.

The Bruery does have bottles to go, and usually a decent selection, I think SDReaper was confusing the Society fulfillment area with the retail bottles area, they're completely separate. You won't be able to walk in and buy many of their special releases, but you can buy several bottles on any given day - usually their core lineup, plus a few seasonals.

And even if they don't have any bottles you want that day, it's worth going as they have a lot of beers on tap. If there are any Society-exclusive beers on tap that you really want to try, ask around for a friendly RS or HS member.

If you're staying in Pasadena, the Stone company store is there.

This would be correct, I completely forgot about the bottles on the north wall that are for everyone since my normal routine is get list, find 5 beers, hand list and credit card to cashier..drink beer...get fulfillment....order food from whatever truck rolled up...get new list...get 5 new beers.

    My b.

Edit: Also if I happen to be there I will gladly help you out with some society only beers.

The bottle selection available to the general public can also have some gems that one can't buy elsewhere, usually a few bottles of what has recently been released. Additionally, their draft list is really huge, very frequently has top-notch stuff on it, and there is an excellent flight system. It's definitely worth the trip to The Bruery if you like what you've had from them.

To add on to promote a Bruery trip more (since i did a terrible job a couple posts ago) they will have some random drafts available to all that they do not bottle: Ex. Bemangoed & Berazzled to name a few. These can be taken away as growler fills but do not exist in bottles.

If you're not planning to drink any beer, I'd suggest not spending time at The Bruery. The bottles are nothing special, and you can buy them at other locations and pick up other great stuff at the same time.

It sounds they are a seperate club and they are getting some Bruery stuff. If you join their club, then you can buy Smokey and the Bois as an extra.

    $33.50 a bottle? Ouch.

I imagine it would be an allocation. The logistics to verify RS/HS on their side seem like it would be a mess.

Kind of a dick move that the Bruery won't be offering it. I know people hate Smoking Wood, but I love it and love the idea of this beer.

Kind of an entitlement point of view to think that you should have been given allocation to a beer that a brewery was contracted to brew by a second party.

This isn't the first time The Bruery has brewed a beer for someone and it wasn't available for sale by or at The Bruery.

From the article, "Smokey and the Bois, available only to our club members and The Bruery’s Reserve and Hoarders Societies."

Why is everyone thinking RS/HS won't get it?

It said it would be available to RS and HS members unless I read it wrong.

The more you order with the Rare beer club, the more the price comes down. Plus that 33.50 includes shipping (which is usually the big cost of the Rare beer Club)

That's what I am assuming too, but being in the Rare beer and not RS or HS I am definitely taking advantage of this

Yeah I saw that. I think the last 5 months of RS/HS are going to have some great stuff I'd rather spend my $ on.

Smoky and the Bois= Way to get rid of a different blend of Bois Fume with a few additions.
