As I'm not a member of the RS in 2015, but did join for 2016 I thought I would start a new thread for 2016 members, so we can discuss what will be available to the new 2016 members.

Here is a note from the membership notification:

Here's a glimpse at a number of the perks you'd receive as a Reserve Society member in 2016:
    • Your choice of a Reserve Society-branded 32-oz. MiiR growler or leisure bag, plus access to other Society-exclusive merchandise.
    • Access to dozens of exciting beers from both The Bruery® & Bruery Terreux®, many of which are exclusive to Reserve Society members.
    • You choose which beers you want - and you can purchase multiple bottles of them.
    • A 15% discount on all beer purchased through your membership, at our Tasting Room, and at our Bruery Terreux tasting room upon opening.
    • Access to our anniversary celebration and exciting, exclusive events throughout the year.
    • Access to special growler fills and Reserve Society pours.
The nine beers included with a 2016 Reserve Society membership are as follows:

The initial package, available in January 2016:
    • 2 bottles of Mocha Wednesday
    • Chronology Series™: 6 Months (2nd Edition - Wee Heavy)
    • Les Ronces (Boysenberry Sour Blonde)
Available later in 2016, upon announcement:
    • 2 bottles of Black Tuesday®
    • 2 bottles of Barrel-aged 8 Maids-a-Milking
    • Sour in the Rye® with Pineapple & Coconut

    Mid-may (likely a Saturday) - Anniversary party
Late October (usually Tuesday & Wednesday) - Black Tuesday release party
Most months, first Monday of the month - Society Member Monday

Apart from those I don't recall there being any consistency on other events. This year they did a Clean Barrel Tour and Tasting in March, and just did the Sour Barrel Tour and Tasting last weekend. Prior years had barrel-aged festival, bottle shares, and some other low-key events. The blending tournaments are by lottery so no guarantee on entry to those.

This year's welcome package included a calendar of anticpated dates so I bet you'll get something similar in the next few weeks.

Considering both Room For Me and Los Ronces appear to already be bottled and nearly ready to go, I'm pretty stoked for 2016 to get started. 2015 started so damn slow, I'm glad they seem to have worked out that balance a bit better. I mean, am I crazy to hope/think that those 2 beers are going to be better than anything released by Terreux in 2015? (not there was anything wrong with a lot of what they put out in 2015.)

Edit: BTW what's the latest on the opening of the Terreux tasting room?

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Room for Me and very excited for Les Ronces (but I haven't tried that one yet). 2016 is definitely shaping up to be an exciting year for me too!

The Tasting Room at Bruery Terreux is now slated for mid-2016 opening. We made the decision to push it back to prioritize other expansion related projects and allow us to give this project the appropriate level of focus when the time is right.

For the other hoarders, this is our included beer list:

    21 beers, including:

    Three bottles of Mocha Wednesday™

    Plus two bottles each of:

    A New, Mysterious Hoarders-Exclusive Black Tuesday® Variant
    Chronology Series™: 6 Months (2nd Edition - Wee Heavy)
    Scotch BA Poterie (8th Anniversary)
    Les Ronces (Boysenberry Sour Ale)
Sour in the Rye® with Pineapple & Coconut
    Mélange #13
    Mélange #15
    Wineification™ IV
    Barrel-aged 8 Maids-a-Milking™

@mattolesh - Is it safe to say the welcome package for hoarders would be:

    3 bottles of Mocha Wednesday
    2 bottles Chron Series
    2 bottles of Les Ronces

Am I missing something else? I felt like we had 9 bottles last year but I could be wrong. Hopefully its two bottles of Room for Me!

Also are the Melange's really Melange's or are these the new hoarders cuvee's?

Did we ever get an email saying what the initial package was?
  19. mattolesh

    mattolesh Initiate (0) Sep 30, 2007 California

@JoshBeerNow - Sorry, but I can't share the little I know yet. I can say that the most each Society will see in the initial package is 4 for RS and 9 for HS. We're still waiting on a couple of the bottles to tell us they're ready. Everything is tasting great right now, but we want to be 110% sure that we're not rushing something out the door. Plus, I don't want to steal our marketing team's thunder and risk putting out inaccurate info now, so I have to plead the fifth on this one.

There are two new Melangé releases as well as two Hoarders Cuveé releases on the 2016 calendar.

No. At least, I'm not aware of an email with the specific details on the initial package.

I feel like my 7 bottles are pretty solid, especially if what OP posted is correct for reserve. Hopefully I'm right about Room for Me as being the next two...but that isn't listed as an included beer. Odd thing is, unless they release this new BT variant, all of those other beers shouldn't be ready yet. I guess we will find out in the next week or so. I would hope they wouldn't drop MW and a new variant in the same month though.

I got that same email saying I'd be getting my initial allocation of 2 Mocha Wednesday, Chron 6 and Les Ronces. How does this work vs. Preservation Society? Are all of those covered under the yearly cost?
  30. JohnCassillo

    JohnCassillo Initiate (0) Mar 29, 2013 California

These initial allocations are covered under the yearly cost, since they were outlined prior to sign-up. There are still five more bottles to be allocated over the course of the year. Additionally, the up-front cost gives you the ability to purchase other beers non-RS members can't.

PS is just a quarterly, recurring membership where you pay for those three and every so often, some beers trickle down from RS/HS that can you also pay for.

So glad they aren't allowing me to pick up my bottles that are available for pick up on Monday. I will randomly be in the area for work and was hoping to pick up my old allocations.
I understand they will be busier on Monday but if I let them know now I don't understand why it is so difficult to give me 15-20 bottles I have waiting for pick up. Picking up this years welcome package should take 30 seconds, find the person in the computer, print and sign and then hand the person the 4 bottle for reserve. I am sure they will have them prepackaged, if not they should consider it now to save them time on Monday. I personally will not pick up my welcome package on Monday because I don't want to waste my time in a line when I will have to do it again when I get my old allocations, unless Les Ronces is some amazing beer I need to drink ASAP.

Its also not just that. For included bottles they have to find you that binder and then have you sign all of that stuff too. Considering how insane it was last year on the first SMM I'm not surprised they are doing it this way.

We're excited about your initial package, and we bet you are too. One of the beers, Les Ronces™, just recently told us it would be ready to include as part of your initial package. But we need an extra week to get it into your hands. The other beers in your initial package will be ready as intended starting Sunday. Les Ronces will be ready for pickup or delivery starting on Monday, January 11. Thanks, in advance, for your understanding. Like many of our sour and wild beers, it'll be worth the wait!
