To be fair, when they first came out with the option of choosing the bag or the growler, we were not told we could not use our 2015 32oz growlers for 2016 RS32 fills. So I picked the bag figuring I would use my 2015 growler for fills.

When they made it clear that 2015 32oz growlers could not be used for 2016 RS32 fills, they also offer the option for people who picked the bag to switch. Which I did.

I figured I could get the bag later, but didn't want to risk losing out on fills.

You give people a product and no matter how good it is, they will find a problem with it.

Definitely not trying to re-ignite a conversation that sounds like it already occurred, but was there an official communique about this, or was this something made known to people in the taproom? I need to get out at some point to pick up the remainder of my 2015 x-mas beers, and was considering bringing my growler. If they've officially said no to the 2015 growlers, fair enough, one less thing for me to pack.

With all due respect, no one is complaining about the product.

The discussion all revolves around the communication and the perception that the lack of clarity has left some people unable to make full use of RS benefits. Specifically RS32 fills.

You can fill the 2015 growlers with normal growler fills. It still counts as a growler, just not as a RS or HS growler.

I don't really have any dogs in the fight for the whole growler thing at the moment... being from Indiana... however the whole 15/16 growler fill thing does seem over-complicated to me.

You shouldn't be forced to buy a new growler yearly just to get fills if they are going to offer fills...
Want to buy a growler.. great! Do it!...
Want to fill said growler with HS/RS pours... great!... Flash your membership card which should be easily (yearly) identifiable to make sure you are a current member for the current year... Done.

Didn't renew for 2016?... Sorry!, but you don't have a 2016 membership card, and you can't flash one to get 2016 pours... but you can still fill that growler with any other beers that don't require a current membership.

So basically if you don't have your 2016 growler, you can't get access to RS32 fills even if you have another growler and your Society card?

When I saw the two options to pick for 2016 I just figured the 2016 growler was to go along with my 2016 membership card and 2016 membership and that my 2015 growler, 2015 membership card and 2015 membership were all in the past. But that was just me assuming.

I do understand those that felt it wasn't communicated properly because it wasn't. If 2016 growlers aren't ready for purchase then The Bruery should allow the 2015 growlers to be filled until they are. But I also understand if The Bruery would make a rule that you can't fill a 2015 and 2016 growler on the same visit during this time span because you know then people would be complaining about how some people are filling up 64 oz while others can't. Because we would have to find something else to complain about.

I became a RS member and one thing I saw in that time was The Bruery normally tried to make things right.

    Am I missing something?
Why are people bitching about the growler fills?
Is there something special I didn't see up there for fills? All those beers were in bottles...no one off beers yet boyz..
2016 is all ready a bitch fest...

But you didn't HAVE to buy a growler, it was an included option if you choose it. No matter what, no one is being forced to buy anything.

I think people are bitching to bitch first and foremost and second, I think people are aren't exactly happy about new, non bottled beers, but instead the ability to get fills of beers that are no longer available for purchase in bottle format.

How do you guys like the Arbre series? And doesn't it seem a little odd that Alligator Char is not up with the other two?

Thanks for the insightful perspective, and completely missing the point of my post. Luckily a fellow BA member reached out and was willing to swap his growler for my bag so I'm all set.

I brought all 3 to a tasting and Medium was the crowd favorite (of the three), followed by Light. It did take a while for them to get finished though.

I loved Light, alligator char had a weird aftertaste, not bad but not as good as light. This weekend I will crack a medium, it is on my to do list.

Why is it odd? Bottle yield wasn't as high as the other two. Pretty common knowledge that a barrel aged beer is subject to leakage, loss, and all kinds of issues not planned for.

All three were a hit with me. Oak and roast.
