Just had a chance to try the new beers on tap today:

Frucht Passion Fruit: Like previous people have stated, it is definitely more sour than Hottenroth. Almost to the level of a sour blonde. The passion fruit was a really nice addition. Looking forward to the other fruit variants.

Tart of Darkness: Reminds me of how it was before last year's batch. For me it was back to having the stout aromas, still some body, and then sour. I'm liking it.

The Wanderer: Great as always. Maybe just a little less fruit than I remember.

Mash & Vanilla: Smelled like sugar cookie dough, in a good way!

Heaven Hill Black Tuesday: Very good. Gave me a little more of the heat that I seem to get from whiskey barrel aged beers and a bit less sweetness.

Overall, I'm very happy with this month's offerings. Cool barrel posters for this SMM too!

Frucht: Passion Fruit was very good, very tart and very fruity lol
Wanderer was amazing, sour but well rounded. Seemed to tart/dry by the blackberries
Heaven hill BT seems too boozey for me, you can really taste the 20%. I think the final version of BT is better.
Mash & Vanilla tastes like a vanilla wafer to me, loved it.
Tart of Darkness is definitely less tart than last year. I liked last year a bit better but I like the tartness it had.
Pilot Batch 69 is a BBA nitro stout was th coffee, great mouth feel and super smooth
Poterie bourbon, I liked the scotch better, scotch seemed way smoother to me. Still a great beer though.
Bonus* Bois Fumè is tasting great, glad I have a bottle still

yes. its a public release. it comes from a 90 + bbl foedre, so if you do the math that equals... a fuck ton of bottles.

made it in a mere 2 hours and the only thing i missed was mash and vanilla! appreciate your prayers lol

heres my thoughts on the beers i had

the wanderer - really really wonderful. honestly i cant say how it compares to past versions cause i never had those fresh, but its really great. bright and tart with a strong berry presence. not as jammy as previous aged versions i had of it, but thats not a surprise. wasnt gonna get more than a bottle of it, now i want to max. blended it with TOD for shits and giggles and that was nothing short of amazing as well.

black tuesday heaven hill single barrel - really great for 20%. thats all im gonna say lol. the real winner of the night was blending this with tart of darkness (shoutout to the vanilla king steve c)

tart of darkness 2016 - tartness is there, but like someone mentioned, not as tart as last year..but that doesnt make it a bad thing necessarily. the roast is big on it this year. jeremy told me that he racked the TOD this year on top of a bit of SHIT and i can tell. its nice and roasty with a solid balanced tartness and flavor profile. its really well rounded and tastes wonderful though, an all around solid beer. cant wait for the cherries & vanilla version coming next month....

My bottle of SHIT tasted like it had some TOD blended into it. I'm not a fan if sour stouts at all so it was a major letdown.

No TOD went into SHIT. it only went one way, not the other haha.

Yeah I know. Just thought it was interesting that they did that on purpose then some of the actual SHIT also went sour.

Highly unlikely. I don't see why they would do that with one of their big beers. My guess is it will just be in next months allotments.

are these two expected to be bottled as allocations, or were these just one offs for smm?

I believe they were part of the barrel odyssey event a couple weeks ago. I think they're just one offs. Could be wrong

If my math is right, roughly 14,280 bottles. Obviously a lot will go in kegs, but that's still a big yield.

On their Instagram post for this beer, it says its the first beer to come out of their 250 bbl foeder. My math is 39,680 bottles, at 25 ounces per bottle. I believe 750 ml is more than 25 ounces, so even more bottles, WOW!

I think you mean less bottles if 750ml is more than 25 oz. I got 39,115.

I was at society member Monday yesterday:

Big fan of Frucht. If you like passion fruit definitely pick this one up. I filled a growler for $12 plus the 20% discount. Hope they keep cranking out the foeder beers.

Wanderer was rather underwhelming compared to previous batches. It did have a decent cherry/blackberry character but it didn't really wow me. The body was rather thin.

Confession tastes like cheap Chardonnay which is a shame because the first batch with the Sarloos (Riesling?) grapes was awesome.

The single barrel Black Tuesday (heaven hill) was pretty awesome (duh).

This, sorry Niku, its 250 buddy.

Either way though, there is a TON of this coming out. They've already got the next batch in the bright tank sitting with the fruit. No clue what it is but if it's half as good as passion fruit I'll be happy.

750mL = 25.4ozs. I guessed off of 90bbl, so the additional 160bbl is a hell of a lot of beer. Now I'm irritated I bought a good bit because it will have to see distro and I can buy it cheaper through work, but I also may get to try it sooner too.

We packaged approx. 90BBL of Passionfruit Frucht. I wouldn't expect to see it distribute (at this time) in Georgia.

HA, Nope! I was commenting on the actual foeder. I had no clue how much of the specific passion fruit they made, just that it was coming from a 250bbl foeder.

If there is anyone out who has an extra/doesn't want, 2016 reserve growler that I might be able to trade for or something can you DM me and see if we can work something out. I failed at the second item sale and am sadly regretting it. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

It tasted nothing like the first batch 2 years ago.
Got barely any blueberries aroma or flavor.
Glad I didn't buy any bottles.

It still is a great beer, I've only tried the old version on draft and could have been the age on the beer that was better but I do not know
