Shoot, was going to pick up some more White Oak today but it disappeared. Was there a sold out sign on it that I missed?

That was part of the CyBeer Monday sale. It ended Saturday I believe.

Having exclusive beers is a good thing. Hopefully this one lives up to the hype!

About 30 minutes ago they were showing Yount on tap for reserve society. Just checked again and its gone. Must have been a typo. But now they are not showing any of todays allocations on tap, so not sure whats going on with their online menu.

Curious, why is BT port 17.9% while BT is 20%?

    Yount is on tap.
If the Winefication/Vindictive series is a lot of BT with some wine added. And if Turo was more wine with beer added, this falls nearer Turo. It's colored like a wine, smells like a wine, thin like a wine. You could tell me it was a regular Napa Cab, and I would totally believe you. It's sweet, a little jammy, but definitely no mark of BT in there.

For $40(after discount) I'll be enjoying my included bottles, but saying "no thanks" to any extras.

Scratch that. I was looking at OG tasting room list. Yount is up for RS according to Terreux tasting room tap list online, along with the new allocations

We're updating our lists. Yount is a bottle pour - limit one taster per Hoarders Society member. It's not available to Reserve Society members.

Most likely because BT is aged in bourbon barrels which had 125 proof bourbon in them while port is only 40 proof.

Not quite. 125 proof is the maximum barrel entry proof for what can be called bourbon and is the entry proof for most manufacturers. There are a few manufacturers with lower barrel entry proofs though. Final barrel proof depends on multiple factors and some barrels can end up north of 140 proof when it's all said and done. Others can end up lower than 100 if they've spent a their time in the lower floors of the rickhouse.

I realize that, just used 125 as an average to get my point across. The proof of what was in the barrel previously is most likely why BT has a higher abv than Port BT.

Any reviews of BT Port or Yount yet? Sounds like an expensive month....

I don't think that's how that works, but happy to be proven wrong. Regardless of the original liquid's ABV that liquid is no longer in the barrel. I think any residual soaked into the wood is nominal & the actual alcohol would have evaporated by the time beer went in.

It's my understanding that anything aged in barrels experiences some liquid evaporation. That's why barrel aged variants are always stronger than their base. So, whether it's true of all port barrels or only these port barrels, they must be more evaporation-proof than bourbon barrels.

Another case in point is all the Sucre barrel variants. They all have slightly different ABV.

I'm not the biggest wine person but I thought Yount was great. It's very wine forward (Cabernet Sauv, obviously), but it's way more drinkable than wine. Didn't get a ton of BT notes in my taster but I really enjoyed it.

The BT Port has more wine notes than I remember from the version a few years back. I didn't get a chance to get to the tasting room for the canned goods drive recently so I might be mis-remembering things. I think with the older batch, I tasted BT first, port barrel notes at the end, which I preferred. This one is almost like a blend of wine and BT.

That makes sense. I would think alcohol would evaporate faster than water but that could vary depending on the conditions. I always thought the liquor in the wood raised the abv but now I want to know the truth haha. Any barrel masters around to confirm?
