I was thinking about targeting this beer for my next trade but I have no idea what its trade value is, so I don't know what I should be offering for it. Has someone recently got this done or know of a trade that got this done? Thanks.
I tried to trade Batch 1 and BA Batch 1 for seasonal East Coast and Michigan beers a couple years ago. I got crickets. There just didn't seem to be much interest in them aside from some small historical curiosity because they were the first beers from The Bruery. I ended up offering them to a big Bruery fan last year for free. (They were personal white whales to him, and I knew he'd enjoy them more than me. I'd had both beers plenty of times, and I felt they were _way_ past their prime.) He ended up sending me a nice box of seasonal East Coast and Michigan beers. No whales, just good beers.
IIRC Evan (head brewer from Bruery) has pretty much stated that most of the original (green bottle?) bruery releases are almost guaranteed to be oxidized due to the old bottling line. themoreyouknow.gif
Yean and it doesn't really make that much sense to age a golden ale for five years either. Though I opened up a BA Levud's a year or so ago and I think I actually liked it more with the oxidation, gave it kind of a chocolatey character.
I had some in early April. It was still pretty good but definitely "old" tasting. It was neat being able to try the first beer The Bruery ever did though.
