Was wondering if a few bruery beers would pull a kbbs? Those in question bein grey monday, black tuesday, and mocha weds. With maybe a couple other things? I saw ba mexi cake sets and up to like 6-8 amazing brews for one kbbs. Kinda hard to figure out what i have that would pull one. Had my first with a buddy this weekend, and i want more. Trying to figure out if this would happen, cant wait to have another kbbs thanks for looking.
Possibly grey monday, mocha weds, stir w/peachs, ot w/sour cherries, and black tues or choc rain for good measure?
Just my two cents but at this point I'm pretty sure that 2 of each mocha wednesday, grey Monday, and Black Tuesday wouldn't pull one. Save your bruery for something that makes more sense and enjoy the taste you were fortunate to get.
Yeah i kinda figured it would be a longshot, i have my stuff and my buddies to try with as well.He is willing to throw in '12-'13-'14 dl as well. He's trying to get another bottle for our hilton head trip in march, he does not have a ba account however and i figured i could try and match whatever he put in. Im pretty sure this will be the overwhelming response on here. But doesn't hurt to ask. I know i personally would trade a kbbs for grey mon, black tues, mocha wed, stir w/peachs, ot w/cherries, and '12-'13-'14 dl. But i would always rather of a larger quantity of great beer, then 1 or 2 really great beers.
I agree it is unlikely but if you want it that bad I would say just go ahead and post the offer anyway. Worst case scenario is you start out exactly where you are now and can come up with another offer to try again. GL OP
Throwing a massive amount of beers out for trade, essentially self--trade-rape, MAY work, but it will be a 1-time thing and chances are you will never want to speak of it again or trade with that person again. A reasonable trade partner generally would feel bad as well, as he knows he can get all these beers for his KBBS, but rather not rape you, and would just pass up on the offer. The only way to possibly land a KBBS and feel happy about the trade, because it's fair, is to be patient and try to build a long term relationship with someone in IA, preferably close to TG. I keep seeing people offering dizzying amount of hard to find beers that an IA locals would love to get normally if people could just stick close to $4$ for other TG deliciousness and other IA access throughout the year. This is exactly what I have done to get my KBBS. It's not just for TG, but Alpine, RR, Portland (deGarde, HotD, Bonyard, Fremont). In just under a year, I now can actually send growlers of Tired Hands or other limited beers distro'ed to PA for RR Beatification and Bruery Reserve beers to one partner, for pretty much ANY Alpine bottles and growlers to another, and I sent a TH Emptiness is Eternal for my KBBS this year. I managed the same thing just this past month with a JK trade partner who will be sending me a Aurelian Lure (arguably not too difficult to get) for straight up $4$ with beers he wants that I can get without much difficulties. Of course, there's no guarantee here, but I feel this approach, focusing on building relationships rather than trading for beers, is the best approach there is. I feel that people always have the ammo to get these big beers, but they lack the patience and keep using them at the wrong time.
While I agree with all of this, building these kind of "long term, generous trade partners" is a total crap shoot. You can stuff every box you send with great extras and glassware, send random porch bombs to people you haven't even messaged before, and be the nicest, coolest BA on the planet and it won't get you anywhere as far as building a relationship because a ton of people aren't looking for one. Also the fact of the matter is, long term trade partners and friends are these for a reason, and it's because you've made them happy with some sort of tough brewery only release or their favorite hard to get beer. For every random porch bomb with a 6 bottle shipper of whales there's 50 other BAs that just haven't lucked out and found that loaded, retired guy who ships beer for fun. BUT if you do end up finding yourself in a nice beer friendship, be thankful for it and make it well worth their while. I've got @blue-dream just because he sent me a few cans of heady a year ago for no reason other than he felt bad I had not tried it. It's been an awesome year since but there's really no real full proof strategy to finding a generous BA friend and if you are going to go searching for one, be ready to spend loads of cash in the process. This probably needs its own thread and it's something that's been bugging me for a while, I've even told people "just find a long term trade partner" but in reality it's really not that simple. As for the bruery beers for the kbbs. Like daryk77 said, throw the offer out there and see what happens. That way you at least have a first hand idea of where to go from there if you've definitely decided you need another kbbs. Good luck
I can tell you from personal experience that I did none of that (bolded). I didn't send amazing extras or glassware right from the start or even well into several trades later. I've never sent unsolicited packages to random people. None of my long-term trade partner is a loaded retired guy either. They are all working in typical professions or just finished grad school. I wish I could tell you how each relationship started, but I can tell you that every single one started out with easy trades, straight up $4$, beers they could get for beer they couldn't get. After a few trades with "easy" beers, it's limited beers for easy beers mixed in, then it's just beers for beers staying close to $4$ regardless of "rarity". If it happened with just 1 person, then I wouldn't have made the suggestion to build long term relationships, but it happened to me again and again. I said in my original reply that "there is no guarantee here", so I am with you that it's not a foolproof strategy and it may or may not get you these big beers in the long run, but again, it depends on what you focus on. I focus on being fair, making my trade partners happy simply by delivering my end of the commitment timely, including thoughtful extras (not necessary amazing extras) and being personable through messages, text, calls, etc. between trades. I simply love getting what they send me throughout the year WITHOUT expecting these big beers from them, ever. In communication, I can generally recognize whether or not I click and move on or move forward, just like in any type relationship. I just happen to have clicked with a lot of people and likewise have moved on with others.
its about rarity, not quantity...you can throw 50 mocha Wednesdays at it..and it still wont get done..find a beer that thousands of people don't have (like kbbs) and try and get it done that way...most Bruery beers are not rare...
All I can add is if I got something like KBBS for something other than of similar rarity, I would feel almost guilty in receiving the KBBS. I always first tell my good trading partners to trade their really great stuff unless I can send something similar. I have sent some great stuff and received some great stuff but if I don't have some flavor of the day, I will make sure I at least include a Fou Foune or something like that.
Well, kind of positive news. I am talking with a couple different people right now who saw this post. One offering a kbbs, but not ready to let go of it without some extras. And one willing to trade up a ba mc set. Talking to both, hopefully one or the other pays off.
If I were you I'd say screw the KBBS and get on that Cake set. Either way, hope something works out for you
That's actually what is probably gonna happen. The guy with kbbs just wants to much. I have 2 regular MC '14, and they are delicious.
