I found some Cuir on the shelf of an out of the way liquor store. Just wondering if everyone thinks its worth the 25 price tag he's asking for it and do you think it will be holding up well on the shelf?

I bought it for about $20 in July. It's like 14% abv, so it should be holding up just fine.

That seems a little high to me. Never tried it myself.

Cuir is by far the best old ale I've ever had, way better then Better Half. It should be holding up just fine, and the price is fair. The Bruery sold it for at least $20, if not a few bucks more.

It's $20-25 around here, depending on where you buy it. Definitely fair. If it had come out this year, The Bruery would likely sell it for $30 (they seem to be selling all their big beers for $30 these days.)

It was 20 here in CA and with that high abv you will be fine. Great beer.
The BBA version is that much better too.

    Cheers!

I got a bottle for $18 in December. It's good but I prefer Papier and Coton more.

Drank one yesterday. Not worth the price, but worth a try.

anyone done a side-by-side tasting of the BA 100% vs the 25%? I'm just curious how the two stack up

Gold wax vs Black wax - I'm looking for any insight or tasting notes some of you might have. thanks in advance....

It was good, but needs time. Papier after 2.5 years was pretty damn amazing IMO. Also Cuir came in 100% and 25% BA versions. This years Anni Ale, Fruet, will only come in 100% BA and its going for 30$ to RS members. If/when it hits shelves, I imagine it'll be in the 30-35$ range. Snag up what you can afford, sit on em for a while.

i got one for like 22 i think? great beer though, split it with a friend and you'll probably have a great time. i could definitely see laying one down for a couple years though, pretty boozy when i last had it.

I liked it, not sure it's worth $25 but if you got some extra cash in your pocket you'll prob. dig it.

Or,.......... you could save the $$$, and buy the 100% BA Fruet when that comes out next month. All bottles are 100% BA's this year!

Didn't quite do side by side, but we did them one day and the next. From what I recall the biggest differences were that there was a little more barrel flavor (of course) in the 100% and the 100% was much more mellow than the 25% (by far the more noticeable/important thing), not as boozy at all. Both were excellent but the 100% was fantastic.

I like Cuir a lot, and I think time will really do it well. If you have the money, go for it.
