It's pretty clear there's two very different types of people here. Good luck to those continuing to throw money at 20% ABV Pastry Stouts! We'll see you at Green Cheek in a few years.

I went to green cheek... they had nothing but crap on tap... won’t go back until I’ve had a truly good beer from them...

It's not an "either/or" - there are plenty of us who do both.

    16oz = 1 pound, hence pounder.

    At least that's my guess.

That would be hilarious if that's how the name came about given it's interchanging mass and fluid measurements. But I'd believe it. My Canadian friend called 24oz cans "twofers".

I'm guessing "pounder" more like "pound this, it'll get you drunk!"

I was thinking it would be a lower ABV beer (which is almost nonexistent at the Bruery). Something that is “poundable.”

Yeah, I'd also assume that's where the term started, and then people started putting 15% in cans...

Eh, I really hope I get a bottle in the sale, but its hard to complain about Mash and French Toast.

I guess you're right, maybe I got comped a flight or something HMMM. Anyway, my point is that the prices didn't bother me after the price change

Apsfpafermafl for M&FT doesn't quite seem like a fair trade to me, but whatever.

Although I am Interested to see how many are in the purchase allocation since I was told they don't have enough to give even one bottle to each RS/HS member.

No pitch fork for me but I was looking forward to Apfelsap and I’m not crazy about Mash and French Toast. Can I get Mash and Grind instead? Wishful thinking........

I’d rather have a credit on my account so I could buy a bottle of Apfelsap if I get to it in time. That’s one of the ones I was really looking forward to.

I don't see why they wouldn't have handled it the other way around. Why not give Apfelsap as an incentive to the members instead of having us fight to buy it. Give the members first dibs and an equal chance at it (unless they don't even have enough to cover even 1 bottle for everyone?) Offer Mash and FT as an additional allocation for sale. Thoughts?

I read it that they did not produce enough to include one with everyone's membership as intended. Even though some of us rank Apfelsap very high on our "Ooo, that looks cool," list for 2019, there's undoubtedly a non-zero number of members who either feel "meh" or "hard pass." They're hoping that those last two categories meet or exceed the shortfall.

RS was set to get two bottles and HS one, so hopefully that indicates there are enough for everyone to buy at least one... and maybe a second for HS

I think I'd rather they not list a beer as included if they aren't confident in production numbers... that said, this seems like a good solution in that the people who most want the beer are likely to get a shot.

As an experimental brewer, my preference is they aim high, with the understanding that there will be misses. Even for included beer. I wouldn't want the included beers to be only the "safe" ones.

I am with others in that I like the idea of a credit better then a substitution. Inevitably a substitution is going to be a disappointment to a significant number of members.

A guaranteed allocation window is also a part of my membership that I value. But I also get that small yield / batch sizes happen. I just wish the first come first served releases were handled like some other clubs, allowing the higher tier members the first shot, followed by the second tier, and so on.

But at the end of the day, their current solution is fine. I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Really? They are making great west coast and hazy ipa's. Haven't really had anything from there that I thought was bad. What did you not like about them?

Yeah, saying Green Cheek had nothing but 'crap' on tap is the opposite of every experience I've had there over 20+ visits. Lagers, stouts, world class WCIPA, great NEIPA. Calling it crap is outside reality. You have an axe to grind?
