Haven't opened mine yet but this is what I'm afraid of. I like wine and I like beer but I really don't care for the hybrids. Oh well, the other excellent offerings make up for the occasional mehs.

Yea, this beer sucked. Hopefully that isn't the new Mash base.

I was expecting to hate Blue Steel Berry Pie but it's actually pretty good!

I'm pretty meh about blueberries and they really don't work for me in stouts in particular. But, this is more of a barleywine so maybe that's the difference?

The texture is also really nice. Very creamy without the sickly sweetness of a bunch of lactose. It's a texture I associate with lots of cacao nibs... which this doesn't have... so maybe it's the graham cracker doing that?

I'm actually a little surprised they're rebrewing both this and Chew On This... Feels like they touch on a lot of the same flavor profiles... Result is I'm probably going to buy a bunch of Chew On This and none of Blue Steel. Without Chew On This, I might have considered a couple bottles of Blue Steel... While simultaneously wishing Monkey Bizness were available:wink:

This Hoarder Box really is a winner. I'm glad a bought a second, and if it shows up next year I think I'll likely grab a third when my "cellar clock" resets and I can leave it with them until late in the year.

Indeed, the 2011 BT i had in early Nov was a bitter and sweet moment, probably won't ever try that beer vintage ever again.

Gonna open my last 2013 BT tomorrow, couldn’t get my hands on a 2012 unfortunately.

I picked up a 09-15 vertical plus a 15 reserve about four years ago from an old member for 300 bucks and been opening one per year since then.

Agreed. On day two, I got a lot more fudge on the sip. It's still too hot on the finish. I opened a bottle of '19 to compare and it's coming into its own. '20 should real get good in a couple of years.

You're right. Decided to break into my bottle before this months allocations ran out. It's a lot more chocolate and vanilla forward. Pretty damn smooth for its freshness too. Going to pickup a few more. Thx.

The mods have become ridiculous about starting a new forum prior to the beginning of the new year.

Why does it have to be year specific? Could you make it a Bruery RS/HS thread and it could go on in perpetuity?

They nixed perpetual threads years ago. I believe it was related to server performance issues as threads grew larger and larger, but I could be misremembering. They switched to quarterly threads for a while but have since settled on annual threads.
