Yeah, this has been brought up for years. Definitely the main reason I didn't renew last year. I managed to get through a dozen or so of my back log this year, so I might sign up again. However, they would be SOOOO much better if they went with small bottles or cans exclusively.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on my first Hoarders Box. And I still might. But the $$$ was just a little higher than I was comfortable with including the renewal this month.

So, a Melange no. 1 reserve came out, does that mean a Melange no. 3 reserve is on its way? I'd absolutely max that if I could.

Also, I still want bottles of White Oak Sap.

Honestly how can you blame Bruery for over buying bottles. Is it their great sale tactics that sold you to buy more, or the need to have multiples of certain items.

I personally was backed up with 4 boxes and reduced it down by half by the use of the stopper. With this lock down, it definitely fine tuned the beer styles I'm willing to buy again and others I can say they're good but just slender enough to buy more of. Definitely this year they have stepped up their game and made it harder. Especially this upcoming week.

    TLDR; Buy wisely.

Picked up some Gray Monday and the BT Maple (great price point on the BT btw). Luckily I am in NV and saw the overnight shipping option, was tempted and bit the bullet. Can't wait to drink these tomorrow!!! I will provide the crew here with some tasting notes over the next few days.

Melange # 3: Best of the series IMO. I miss that one.

Wouldn't mind seeing "White Oak" again... maybe even for $6.37 for a 750 like during the 2016 archive "clearance" sale.

Or even better, "White Oak" in cans

Excited for bt maple after hearing the talk about it last night. BT Islay kills the Hoarder’s box for me, unfortunately.

You purchased the overnight shipping this morning and they shipped it out today? I’ve never had that happen, usually takes around a week. Hope that’s the new normal!

I did the same. A little count down timer popped up when I was ordered bottles that said same day shipping within 3hrs, Xmin, Xsec. The chat person on the web store that I was typing with confirmed same day if ordered by 2pm. Placed my order around 11:30. Surprisingly I got a shipping confirmation email within an hour. Granted, when I track it now it just shows as registered in the GSO system. (edit: It just changed and now shows in transit and at the distribution center.) So we'll see. To date, the best I've had was 3 days. Worst was about 3 weeks. Kudos to the Bruery for upping their shipping game.

If any DC members want to split the Hoarders box, hit me up. I'm intrigued by all, but not sure I want 2 bottles of any of them.

I've had next day a couple times in the past... Usually not on a day new beers come out though.

Note: in past I usually find the shipment notification email comes the morning of delivery and not the day they ship.

This is the new norm, we put a huge effort into trying to improve our service to match up with the quality of our beers this year. That means going forward if you order before 2pm PDT M-F beer is delivered throughout CA next Day and parts of NV. There ARE some exceptions with our delivery partner where it takes 2 days, but in general it's fast.

Local Delivery same deal, order before 2pm PDT and get your beer same day in the OC and LA.

Going to have to wait and see on Gray Monday. $52 is steep for something I may actually hate. While I love Grey Monday, I wasn’t at all a fan of Scotch 11 Pipers or a fan of Scotch in general.

So if any of you taste on site or crack a bottle soon, please do share any notes you may have.

I think you should be good, speyside scotch is very rarely smoky or peaty. What you're thinking about is islay scotch, which definitely has that meaty smoke character.

Oh definitely. When that sale went on I bought a case. I think I have ONE left and that one is very hard to hold on to.

It's amazing how well that beer ages too.

I’m honestly not sure how to pinpoint what I haven’t liked about Scotch/Scotch BA. I generally don’t mind smokiness. I didn’t mind Smoking Wood or Smoked lagers type of smoke. I opened my last Scotch 11 Pipers this weekend to see if my opinion had changed and still wasn’t a fan. Normally I’d still buy and try but that’s tougher to do at $52 and renewal season for my 2 beer memberships.

The 11 pipers was in speyside barrels and that was peaty
