Opened a bottle of 2014 Smoking Wood bourbon barrel aged version; has quite a tart and odd smell like fermented strawberries, and tastes quite sour, over all the other flavors.
I know Bruery makes a lot of sour beers but I don't think this one is supposed to be sour, unless I'm way off here.
Any news of infected bottles? Don't want to assume or start rumors, and it's still drinkable, but yeah.

I just had a 2012 bottle the other day. Was far from sour. Nice and smooth bourbon taste and a little sweet. Tasted great.

I had 14 smoking wood rye a few months ago. Not sour or fruity. Smoky, woody, rye whiskey barrel goodness. Yours sounds infected

There is definitely something wrong with that bottle. I had the same version recently and it was very smooth and rich. A little spice and smoke and plenty of bourbon, but definitely no fruit or sour qualities.

I traded away the bottle I received with my Pres. Society allotment, but I've not heard any scuttlebutt about any of those bottles being infected.

Sounds like an infection then. That sucks, I was really looking forward to it.

The pour should have tipped me off too... it was fizzy, like cola, no head retention at all.
Kinda tastes like a Flanders red with more behind it

You can always try contacting the brewery. It may not get you anywhere, but it never hurts to try.

I guess I have it. Haven't tried it yet, I'll post my experience when I do.

Yep that would you be you, my friend. I've heard excellent things, I'm just not into smoked beers. My buddy @blguillen who is my Bruery trustee says it's awesome.

You have an infected bottle. That beer is a sweet bomb.

I finally got around to trying this beer and it was definitely not infected. I shared it with a friend and we both thought it was delicious. Too bad its being retired. Thank you @Preluderl!

I had a 2014 and it was not at all sour. You have an infected bottle.

If feel for the OP. I'm really tired of infected bottles. The ones I've had have all been browns, barleywines and milk stouts. It's a huge letdown especially of you traded for it of have been aging/ saving it for a special occasion.
