Hey BA's, I've never had any of the Bruery's stouts and may look to trade for them soon. The question is, is there a list or forum post that would help me to determine which versions were brewery only releases, member exclusives, regular distribution, etc.? I've seen so many variants that it is getting hard to determine a starting point for trades. Feel free to list in a reply here any other details I should know about prior to seeking these beers out via trade.
Black Tuesday and all the variants are either Lottery, limited brewery release, or Preservation/Hoarders society beers as far as I know. I think $4$ of other Limited release beers is the norm for Black Tuesday, some of the variants trade a bit higher. I have a BT that I could trade for some Florida stuff.
Black Tuesday -- annual release - October - lottery online and in tasting room Chocolate Rain -- reserve society exclusive Grey Monday -- reserve society exclusive Mocha Wednesday -- hoarders society exclusive These look to be the main 4. Does the above look correct?
There are Rum barrel age versions too but I believe they are growler fills only and again reserve society/hoarders. The 4 you mentioned are the ones that get bottled. Sorry I can't be more definitive...
I believe regular Black Tuesday is the only one the public can get and even then it is a lottery through the brewery. Can't think of any stout made by them that is distributed.
Wineification and Wineification II are other variants of BT... Rum Barrel Black Tuesday has been recently bottled too... ...and I've heard (not sure) that Mocha Wed will be made in MUCH larger quantities next year, someone correct me if I'm wrong here...
Tart of Darkness is a Bruery stout (according to them, though the BA entry calls it a wild ale) that sees distribution.
OP - I think it's easier to think about in these terms: Black Tuesday is pretty easy to acquire, I would bet you could trade any desired shelf beers $4$ for one. BT is an expensive bottle so lots of people are ok just trading it for quantity of other great beers in small formats. Chocolate Rain is one step harder than BT. You can get it $4$ but with more limited beers - typically not something you can just go get on a shelf. but nothing super hard to get either. I would think Hunaphu + a little something to even up the $4$ for instance. or Abraxas, or Darkness, etc. you might also be able to do like 6 or 7 bottles of something like BCBS. then there is Grey Monday. this one is going to require something either very limited of very desired. something like Cherry Rye, maybe Prop, etc Mocha Wednesday - one notch harder than Grey Monday.
I'm only going to list the currently bottled ones, as the list of draft-only versions is crazy. I'll try to give a rough idea of trade value as well, but this is mostly based on trolling the ISO:FT and my personal trades and perception. Abbreviations: P = Preservation Society, R = Reserve Society, H = Invite-only Hoarders Society Black Tuesday - The original bourbon barrel aged. Available via online raffle and through P/R/H societies. Released annually since 2009. The original 2009 BT trades extremely high, considered a semi-whale. Otherwise, trades around the regular Huna/Abraxas level. Black Tuesday Rum Barrel Aged - Available through R/H societies. Released 2014 with no extra purchasing beyond included bottles. Trades higher than regular BT, somewhere near BCBS variant level. Chocolate Rain - Black Tuesday with vanilla bean and cocoa nibs. Available through R/H societies. Released annually since 2011. Trades somewhere between regular and rum barrel BT. Grey Monday - Black Tuesday with hazelnuts. Available through R/H societies. Released annually since 2012. Trades slightly higher than rum barrel BT. Mocha Wednesday - Black Tuesday with coffee and cacao nibs. Available through H society 2014. Slated to be available to R/H societies in 2015. Trades similar to Grey Monday. Wineification - Black Tuesday with Syrah grapes aged in French oak. Available through H society 2013. Trades pretty high, around twice GM. Wineification II - Black Tuesday with Petite Syrah grapes aged in French oak. Available through H society 2014. Trades high, about 1.5 GM. Hope this is helpful!
