Greetings, Frequent lurker and first-time poster here. My name is Matt and my wife and I are headed to Europe for two weeks in December. We're spending three nights in Bruges (December 14th-17th) and so far the forum has been a great resource for bars/places to visit. I'm still a novice when it comes to decent beer (even though i'm 31) but honestly cannot wait to sample all of the wonderful options that await. With that being said I wanted to see if there were any local BA's that would be interested in meeting up with my wife and I while we're in town. Would be great to have someone help us navigate through the hundreds of options available. I'd also be happy to bring over any American beers for anyone interested. I'm on the East Coast and have a great local store that specializes in regional breweries. I look forward to spending more time on this great site! Matt
I think there's a possibility to meet up and exchange some beers but it's still 2 months so no view on my agenda yet . Post a personal reply when were a bit closer (2 to 3 weeks)
Welcome in Europe Matt, you will love it for sure. Brugge has many very nice beer bars and the best for a beer will be the Struise shop.....Westvleteren is only 45 minutes with a car...... Thijs
Honestly Matt the Beeradvocates in the Lowlands are awesome. I would suggest posting this again a few weeks before the trip. I would expect some of them would come out for beers particularly if you have American beers to share. I would highly reccomend this off the radar restaurant if you are staying in Brugge: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26992/view=beerfly It's in Oostende (a 15 minute direct train from Brugge) but an amazing place especially if you are foody as well as a beer geek. It was the 1# rated beer restaurant on the other site but tends to go un-noticed on this site. One of my biggest regrets on my recent trip was not making to over there for lunch.
