Went there yesterday for a few brews and some food. Had a couple of their IPAs, the Session IPA and the APA. I had the Coffee Stout as well. If I were to be kind about it, I might say that I don't like the style of the IPAs. If I were to contrast them with what usually drink, I would say that they were really pretty awful. Like worse than any mass produced IPA I can think of. Massively malty. The place was pretty crowded, so I guess that others have a different opinion, which I'm happy about as it is good that there are differing tastes. In fairness, the Coffee Stout was pretty good and the Session wasn't bad, albeit a tad watery. There really ought to be a strict guideline before anyone is allowed to call their IPA 'juicy' though.

To add insult to injury, the worst nachos ever (cheese sauce over pulled pork) and my ribs were freshly fired and only predominantly cooked.

The beer is mediocre and the food is bad. Eat and drink local tho. Keeps them booming with rhode islanders who don't know better. Im related to a gang of them. Been there quite a few times. It's a sad scene.

Yeah, I refuse to eat at Brutopia myself. I do not like the food one bit. The beer is.... well... it's ok. Certainly not my favorite. IPAs have never been a strong suit of theirs though. Much better are the darker styles. You are better off to just go downstairs and get Revival beers which I always find somehow tend to be better than anything at Brutopia.

I thought all the beers at Brutopia were Revival? It certainly looked like the taps had revival heads on them.

They are brewed by revival but there are some that are done specifically for Brutopia.... those are the ones I speak of when I say Brutopia beers. To be honest, it is really a weird and confusing situation they have over there and it has changed over time to become even more confusing.

The food has been wildly inconsistent and their menu constantly changing trying to find the right balance (which for the record they had partially achieved a couple years ago but then changed up)...

I also agree that some of the beer is also not even close to being up to par... the coffee stout is definitely tasty but their “you thirsty” IPA is garbage; billed as a juice bomb, it’s a bitter bite of an onion.

I recall having (and enjoying) conga imperial ipa but this has never been a place I’ve been in a rush to return to

Apparently revival brewing will remain in their space below Brutopia

Not surprising. Gotta make good beer to keep the people coming back. I think a lot of these breweries that aren't product oriented are going to be in for a rude awakening over the next few years

The folks who own revival also have another place in providence called troop.. never been but it looks like an overpriced overhyped hipster nightmare

I never ate/drank at Brutopia but I bought some decent beers downstairs at Revival.
Revival is staying open for now.
I like the Mercy Brown ABA and Larkins Irish Dry Stout, I hope they stay in business.
