When I think budget I envision 24 Packs of Michelob Golden Draft and other similar beers for for $18.99, I still buy 12 Packs of 16oz. Premium Grain Belts for $10.99 when money is tight. I've yet to find what I call any "good" beers for <$1/each.

We seem to re-visit this topic quite frequently, I consider anything under $10/6-pack of craft beer to be budget beer...and there is an assload of them around...quality stuff

Ninkasi is pretty reasonable and offerings like Tricerahops are awesome! Other than that, the widely distributed Stone offerings are typically cheap and tasty here in NV.

My old beer shop in Southern Illinois would have founders, bells, and deschutes six packs running for 7.99 alternating weeks. Hellllllooooooooo!

SN and, lately, Narragansett have been my go-to. SN is of course consistently good and priced well, and lately NG has really picked up in quality IMO and it's tough to beat a solid B+ beer in 16oz 6 pack can format for $8.

Sierra Nevada Variety Packs...Samuel Adam's Rebel/ Rebel Rouser...Shipyard Variety Packs (where I am)...Double Bag from Long Trail...I guess it depends on what you consider a "budget beer." $10.99 a six pack and $7.99 to me isn't that much of a difference.

Sierra Nevada, Boulevard, and Summit are my budget craft beers. You'll get the best deals at a large grocery store with these types of beers. I picked up a 12 pack of SN Beer Camp for 14 bucks a couple days ago. Boulevard and Summit are almost always on sale for $6.99 or $7.99 a six pack.

I just picked up a 6 of the Gansett Coffee Milk stout for 8.29. Being 16 oz you cann't beat that. Not the best stout I have ever had , but not bad either.

I agree. It's a bit unbalanced, but still at that price it's great. I liked their shandy too, unique as far as american interpretations go. I would love to see them attempt an IPA.

I know frequent a store in MA that has $14.99 30s of PBR.
A slightly more expensive alternative is the $20.99 36s of Bud.

Good call on the price-per-ounce comparison. Even here in Minnesota, Sculpin is about that price (top of the scale), and there are hundreds or top-shelf brands that are in the $8.99 -$14 range.

Sierra Nevada is a good choice, but my vote is always for New Glarus. Around $8 or 9 for a regular 6-pack, 4-packs of their Thumbprints are usually $9 or $10, which is an AWESOME deal.

New Belgium Rampant IIPA. $9 for a six-pack of 8.5% hoppy beer. Great value.

If you have a Trader Joe's close by, their house brands are very tasty at a great price.

Ladies and gents, a $3.99 bomber is the same as a $13 sixpack. Do the math.

A sixer under 10 bucks is what I would consider a good affordable beer. So BLVD, Lagunitas, SN, Founders and Deschutes all fall in there for me, plus some other good local options.
